Okay, I understand Diddy and Yoshi. But why Climbers, Lucas and Wario?
Because we've gotten a few random character reveals here and there. Plus, we know Wario and ICs will be in. Lucas will probably be in. They seem like the natural choices for default characters, and most of the time, default characters are shown first.

I hope wario is revealed sometime in the next month or two and that he comes with an explanation of his alt costume if he still has it. That might shed light on other characters and alternate costumes.

I've seen people mention this a few times and I don't get it.
Mother is an obscure series with only 3 games that hasn't had a new release in years; and it has 2 playable characters, an assist trophy, at least one item and a couple of stages.
I'd say it has more than it's fair share of material

I think people says it lacks representation because of New Pork's song selection. It became like the brawl theme where half of it was Porky's theme.

Something I JUST noticed in the Little Mac trailer after watching it for like the billionth time: the KO meter fills seemingly slowly, or at least not nearly as fast as the end of the trailer might suggest.
If you watch it again, look at the punching glove logo representing Player 1. In previous videos I've seen that the logos have this sort of smokey effect on their colors instead of just being stoic colors. If you look at Mac's in that instance, the effects go completely sped-up and bonkers until he's powered up.

infact, most of the mother music from brawl is taken from the mother 3 i and + cd's
some are slightly changed, some are just straight ports. most of the scrapped earthbound music were ports too ( from the mother 1+2 cd ) so this isn't really the ''issue''
infact it isn't much of an issue of at all, because just like phantom killah said; mother is an obscure franchise. it think it's represented well in brawl, but it's amount of removed music is just a bit suspicious

My issue with the Mother representation in Smash in terms of music is the very meh selection for a FIGHTING game.
Why didn't we get Pokey's Porkies, Starman's theme, Great Kracken of the Sea?? The series is based on RPG battling, yet we got next to none of that.

The Mother series is mishandled a lot in Smash, in my opinion. There's a very slim character selection, the music choices are usually not incredibly dynamic for fighting, and... well, I guess those are my main beefs with it. I've always loved the stages based on the series. I know New Pork City gets a lot of flack for being gigantic, but I love the stage. It's just so awe-inspiring.
If they got some better tracks, another Assist trophy or two and at least one more playable character I think it would be redeemed, but I don't think Mother is a high priority for playable characters compared to other series, and that's sad.

New Pork City is shit not because it's huge (though that does contribute to its problems); it's because it's boring. It's like it was made in the ingame stage editor, meaning it feels really generic (which is made worse by the fact that the camera's almost always so far out that you can't see any of the stage's defining details), and its layout feels really uninspired.
lol actually I feel that way about a lot of brawl's new stages. I actually generally prefer to play in my own stages because, despite the genericness, they tend to have layouts I find more interesting.
Large stages can be done, but I think they'd have to be both more iconic (without relying on small background details) and have more clearly defined areas.
