As for the subtheme, am I required to sprite in a style that is from the SNES/Genisis, or can it be any well-known style in general? I have a few different sprites I would like to try, but I'm having trouble finding other styles that they can translate to, being that there palettes are very specific/minimal. Not to nitpick, but the first post does stipulate that your base sprite must originate from an SNES or Genesis title respectively. As for my previous question, I wasn't asking whether the sub theme was mandatory, I was asking if it is permitted to sprite in a style that does not belong to a SNES or Genesis style. Unsure if I want to tweak the armor a bit more and/or give him kneeguards, as it looks a bit meshed up. Kinda hard to work with this kind of pallete. I might screw around with it a bit by using a few other colors from another character that uses the source's pallete. Am I still able to mess around with the design even after the compo's over though? I'm pretty sure this guy's IP copyright has been long since dead so yeah.
