Just a reminder that the Sonic CD remake comes out tomorrow on XBLA.
It'll also be getting a PS3 release on the 20th, and a Steam release by the end of the year.

And at $5/400 MSP too. Is it going to be considered "Indie Games" or an official release, though?

Literally no one has no reason not to buy this. This is the definite version of an already superb game. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying like three copies to give away, this is too good and too cheap for what it is.

RE: Rev Up Those Sonic Cycles - Vipershark - 12-13-2011

getting this on both xbla and steam

I can never consider a digital version a "definitive" version, but for the price it's a damn good buy for sure, especially for those who never had a Sega CD or Sonic Gems Collection, of which I own the latter.

RE: Rev Up Those Sonic Cycles - Tellis - 12-14-2011

Yeah, I've got Gems Collection too. Is there any reason for me to get this if I already have Gems? Which soundtrack does it have, Japan or USA?

that said i'm gonna hold out until an android version is released; it's only on every single gamestop ""gaming tablet"" therefore not too far off for android smartphones

Er, I also can't bring my PS3 and/or desktop computer everywhere I go?

RE: Rev Up Those Sonic Cycles - Woppet* - 12-14-2011

Yeah it's being released on Android tomorrow too.

Tails is now playable. That stuck out for me, but apparantly load times are non-existant. I think for the price, even if you own Gems Collection it's worth a buy. For $5 you get a superior, albeit digital only, copy that is playable on your 360 or Ps3, while you can stick to playing the Gems Collection version on Wii or Gamecube. So it's convenience in addition to added content.

EDIT: oh and FIXED SPIN DASH YES

RE: Rev Up Those Sonic Cycles - Woppet* - 12-14-2011

Why has nobody mentioned it's the first time it will be playable in widesceen properly.
And the spin dash has been fixed to work more like it did in Sonic 2.

RE: Rev Up Those Sonic Cycles - Yo-Yo Boy - 12-16-2011

I'm 4th for worlds fastest on Stardust Speedway zone 2. Tongue

RE: Rev Up Those Sonic Cycles - Jawnsunn - 12-16-2011

I don't know if this was mentioned, but...
Sonic CD uses a new engine. So it's not like the Gems Collection.

Plus, Cosmic Eternity. Yeah.

RE: Rev Up Those Sonic Cycles - Rökkan - 12-16-2011

Here's all the features that this version of Sonic CD has that the original games doesn't:

- Toggle between the original game's spindash and controls or Sonic 2 spindash and some of the physics elements of Sonic 2 and Sonic 3
- Better programming, made to replicate more Yuji Naka's programming on Sonic 1, 2 and 3, which allows the extermination of the few annoyances that the original game had (diagonal springs couldn't launch you right, slopes sometimes taking away all of your speed)
- Toggle between the original Japanese soundtrack or the American one
- Songs edited so that they can loop right instead of fading out and restarting
- Graphical improvements that makes the game look a lot more smoother, specially at the Special Stages - UFOs now "resize" instead of changing sprites according to distance, not to mention that literally everything (well, except for the animated intro and ending I guess?) runs at 60fps
- Play as Tails

I'm sure that there are other things worth mentioning but I forgot. But yeah, basically those. Buy it, it's five fucking bucks for an improved version of an already great game.
