RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Candescence - 04-07-2011

It didn't do 2D platforming right, in my personal opinion, because the the platforming controls are so incredibly loose that precision platforming is a NIGHTMARE. Even Unleashed didn't have this problem, if I remember correctly. Colours improved on Unleashed in a couple of aspects, but was WORSE in others.

That, and any 3D gameplay style that uses 2.5D as a crutch to carry more than half the damn gameplay is something I'm not exactly keen on. That, and it doesn't help that the 3D sections are practically automated half the time and are incredibly linear.

Colours wasn't bad (Unleashed was, though), it was just... Mediocre.

I was being sarcastic about the turtles thing

I love love Big the Cat's design. I wish they'd make Big an interesting character (I can totally see him as a shy, gentle giant) instead of making him the fucking Jar Jar Binks of Sonic.

What would be really awesome is if he could actually fight. Imagine him still carrying around a fishing rod, but catching enemies and hurling them into other enemies with it. That'd be wicked.

Thats like putting the 80's turtles with the modern turtles, nothing good could ever come of that!

actually they did it. and it was quite an incredible season finale episode.

He said he was joking; but yeah, that was really great.

Sonic threads. It's like old people trying to roller skate, and play horse shoes again.

ANYWAY.

Remixing old Sonic games is definitely better than re-releasing re-released games. Honestly I have so many copies of Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3 now I could open a museum.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Cobalt Blue - 04-08-2011

funny enough, i am replaying sonic rush.

forthe sake of playing a fun game.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Goemar - 04-08-2011

I have to admit seeing classic Sonic has made me rather excited for this. And after Sonic Colours (which was good, and universally agreed to be good) I'm very hopeful - most likely too hopeful...

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Rökkan - 04-08-2011

Sonic Colors had a ton of splitting paths which was really cool. The different Color abilities were very very well explored in level design and in getting to splitting paths and exploring, but Colors still relies on bad design choices that are reminiscent of the other games that gets really apparent in Colors since it DOES rely more on exploring and experimenting than the other recent games - deathpits, parts of the level that were thought to get through in just one way, punishing the player by trying anything different and keep pushing the player forward without giving him much control or freedom to backtrack are really not good elements in a game that incentives you to try finding different paths by being a bit more creative and having more out-of-the-box thinking than just GO FORWARD. I guess that also applies to Unleashed since it also offers a variety of alternative paths and rewards exploring (although on Unleashed it's more about knowing when to jump in full speed and all to get to shortcuts than on actually taking your time to explore and being a bit creative with your skills like in Colors).

Silver is the coolest character in the series. Sad

Silver is just another useless friend the sonic series can go without.

And to be honest with you, the majority of sonic characters aren't needed.

I pray to god Green Forest from SA2B will be remade.

Loved the level design and even more so the level's music more then any other level in
the modern games.

Do you want the series to only have Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Eggman, and maybe Shadow? Sorry, but the series would be pretty boring. And Silver's from the future, and he has PSYCHIC POWERS. You say they aren't needed, but look how much they've done for the story.

Ehh, I don't really agree with half the posts here anyway because every Sonic game I've ever played was great. I don't know what you guys want from Sonic Team, TBH. You don't seem to like every game they work so hard to please all their fans with, and they're really amazing.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - GrooveMan.exe - 04-08-2011

Silver exists to be the Trunks to Sonic's Goku and Shadow's Vegeta. True say.

Silver's mechanics in 06 were interesting, just shittily implimented, like everything else in that game.
