Classic Amy, and old Chaotix with Mighty.

try to fit 9 characters into a coherent platforming game with barely any storyline, while all 9 characters remain relevant to the player and do not turn(due their nature as cartoonish stereotypes) into annoying, un-skippable elements in the way of your platforming experience.

Not necessarily in one game, the whole series could work with just those.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Vipershark - 04-06-2011

the characters from sonic adventure 2 (including shadow and rouge) and the chaotix (excluding charmy) should be all of the characters

that's it

Oh boy... Well, I guess I can check in tomorrow to see what abomination Sonic Team has created this time. I'd cross my fingers, but I can't help but feel this game is going to follow in the footsteps of Sonic's past failures. With any luck at all though, it may turn out okay like Colors did.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - TomGuycott - 04-06-2011

It'll be Sonic 4, but mirrored in the other direction and labeled Sonic 5.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Goemar - 04-07-2011

Well it's been revealed... http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150143624090667&oid=23050342417&comments

Having classic Sonic and new Sonic is urgh... weird? Unless it's just symbolic? If this is anything more than simply having an option to play as Classic Sonic I'm very scared.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Vipershark - 04-07-2011

i think they said something about this being for the 20th anniversary

i'm guessing it's a sonic 1 remake in 3d and with the option to choose classic or modern sonic...?
or some kind of time travel thing?
idk.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Iceman404 - 04-07-2011

What is this, I don't even-
That classic Sonic model looks great!

Edit: Oh, and I think it may have a Turtles Forever like plot. Classic Sonic can't just be another playable character, look at how much emphasis they put on the little guy! It's obviously connected with the storyline.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Alpha Six - 04-07-2011

Sonic Team is getting a lot better at listening to their fans. I'd like to see what comes out of this, especially since Classic Sonic is there.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Vipershark - 04-07-2011

at first I was like WAIT SONIC HAS A SON WHAT THE FUCK
then i realized it was classic sonic

smells more to me like retro sonic HD with the option for modern (Rush) mechanics or retro mechanics :9

but the game would still run like a snail ):

wait a second didn't it occur to anyone that this is Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2 and that for Episode TWO (THAT'S WHY THE TRAILER HAS TWO SONICS, LOL) Sonic's getting an aesthetic redesign to appeal to the classic gamers?

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Phantom Killah - 04-07-2011

I've never been much of a Sonic fan, but seeing classic Sonic in that trailer made me feel some sort of nostalgia anyway.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Rökkan - 04-07-2011

According to a LEAKAGE from October from a SEGA rep, it'll be memorable levels from Sonic 1 to Sonic Adventure 2 remade in Colors/Unleashed day-time sort of gameplay. I guess this trailer SORT of confirms it????

Also SEGA registered the name Sonic Generations, so that'll probably be the name of the game.

Anyway EXCITED and SCARED as FUCK. I'll be hanging myself if this turns out to be shitty or just mediocre.

Also hope SEGA is not reading this thread because terrible ideas. The vast majority of characters up to the first Adventure game are very well-designed but incredibly underexplored (or resorted to being fucking retards). Give them spotlight and development and likeability. Shadow already had his chance with a whole game, and that just made it more evident how bland and uninspired the fucking character is.

But just a good game staring Sonic with the carefulness and polishment of the classics is good enough for me you know!!

Adventure 1 was very unpolished because it was Sonic's first full-feature 3D game and also was rushed like three months so that it could release with the Dreamcast that had no powerful launch titles. Sonic Adventure 2 was far more polished gameplay-wise, but I love the Sonic levels in the first Adventure game more, I feel they're better designed, more rewarding to explore and less straight-forward. Sonic Adventure 2's Treasure Hunting levels are really well-designed and very explorative, but maybe a bit too much, making them be a pain in the ass because sometimes Emeralds are hidden in tricky, stupid places.

Shut the fuck up you're fucking NOT going to ruin the wet dreams that I've had since three years ago. That'll be SEGA's job (if this turns out to be a shitty game)

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Iceman404 - 04-07-2011

Actually, Sega gave a poll a while ago asking fans what they're favorite Sonic levels are. The poll stops at Sonic Adventure 2 (So it probably includes Adventure levels), I think this game has more to do with that poll than we may think.

Or I could be wrong.
