Yeah, only thing I dislike about this game is the lack of grinding opportunity. Everyone is level 20-25 and then you get to the E4 and suddenly level 50ies.

I'm grinding near Blackthorn, still need the 8th Badge, and no legendaries. Don't want them anyways, but I heard you MUST catch Lugia so you could get to the E4? How's that? Eh, gonna need them for the dex anyways.

Team-

Mean Green the male Meganium- Lv.35
Anya the female Golem- Lv. 33
Emperor the male Red Gyarados (I had a normal, trained Gyarados but the Red Gyarados owns him)- Lv. 32
Boxxy the female Vulpix- Lv. 33
Uri the male Alakazam- Lv.36
Pride the male Pidgeotto- Lv. 33

It's really easy if you've played Picross or Minesweeper before.

The numbers at the end are your friends.
1) Flip over all columns/rows that have no Voltorbs
2) Mark all columns/rows with a point/orb total that add up to 5. It means that all the cards are either 1s or orbs; so it's useless.
3) Furthermore if you've flipped over a 2, and the point/orb total of that row adds up to 6; that means that row is dead now too; and you can mark it off.
4) Rows which have a 3 flipped are worth 'double' the amount 2s are worth.
(Say a row had a point/orb total that added up to 7. That means there are either two 2 point cards, or a single 3 point card)
5) If you're a maths nerd:
"Dead Row" = Points + Orbs = 5 + ("number of 2 tiles") + ("number of 3 tiles" * 2)

After you play a few games this way, you'll be able to do that equation in your head; and you could probably clear Levels 1-3 in seconds each.

Eventually there'll be situations where there are no 'safe' tiles. If you need to take a guess; choose a tile that's a cross section between two high-point rows. Once you get a high enough difficulty, you'll see "Voltorb-only" rows; which make the game much easier; 'cuz you know where a good number of the bombs are!

I've gotten up to level 8 difficulty this way before making a dumb reading error and going back to level 1.

I found the the best grind spot was in this little patch of grass on route 47 on top of a waterfall. I don't think you will find super high levels (I think there are some in the 30s) but they aren't so common.

Ditto are also pretty common in that patch.

RE: HG/SS Discussion. - Sengir - 04-08-2010

Cerulean Cave should have its name be changed back to Unknown Dungeon.

RE: HG/SS Discussion. - Phantom Killah - 04-08-2010

Why is Aipom so hard to find

I keep getting Spearows and the occasional Heracross but no Aipom
I found an Aipom literally immediately after posting this

from what i've heard it was never called the unknown dungeon to begin with and that was just a fan term that spread like wildfire

but yes it is definitely a better name

Hi I have the game guide to Red and blue and it was always called Cerulean Cave.
