i guess my critique was just completely ignored...

RE: Pokemon Zero Sprites - Deebs - 06-20-2009

Looking better. Could I have a quick go at it?

RE: Pokemon Zero Sprites - Zee - 06-20-2009

Hmm, could I get in on this, or is this a private affair?

Shapes, yay.

RE: Pokemon Zero Sprites - Wes - 06-20-2009

Its open as afar as I know. and JWW, I was gonna wait for Tyvont o comment on that. Its his style, so I don't want to get rid of the selout and have it be out of style, only for him to go and say it stays. And sure Deebs, you can take a try.

Regardless, selout only serves to make the sprite look sloppy. I suggest shading the outline according to your light source, but keep it continuous. Besides that, im very impressed with the shading and the accurate scale.

quoting this, because I tried to attempt the style and I can't do it at all, the broken black outline really messes it up.

RE: Pokemon Zero Sprites - Alpha Six - 06-20-2009

I've gotten rid of the black outline in recent sprites and just said fuck it and replaced it with fourth shades.

RE: Pokemon Zero Sprites - Raytheon - 06-23-2009

examples/style guide plz

RE: Pokemon Zero Sprites - Wes - 06-23-2009

OK well I fixed the broken black outline with a 4th shade, but I didn't want to post again with such a small update. So I waited until I finished the next Pokemon I was planning to sprite.

The problem with Muk was that I wasn't sure how to sprite him. In some of his official artwork and sprites, he has lumps of sludge falling off of him, which create heavy shadows under them (Red Japan/Green, Red/Blue, Ruby/Sapphire). These shadows appear as lines over his body. In other sprites, he just has lines all over his body, as part of his skin (Yellow, FireRed/LeafGreen, Diamond/Pearl).
In the end, I decided to draw them as lines, but not have them be stripes. I think the stripes look really bad as a band around his whole body.

C+C please

RE: Pokemon Zero Sprites - Vipershark - 06-23-2009

tbqh in the ones you say he has stripes on his body, thy all look like layers of sludge except the yellow version one
your muk doesn't have enough... mukiness? You need to put the layers on it.
