So far I've bought Kirby, Sonic, and Meta Knight. Australian shops have new stock of ones known to be rare in the US. Including Ike and Marth.
Also changed my Splatoon Amiibo preorder to the three-pack since I want the squid as well.
BTW, if anyone is looking for Amiibos online. You're better off importing from Japan, as most sellers I've checked have more reasonable prices.

I also got a Marth today. On Amazon. Holy toledo it was not easy. I refreshed way too much.
Our local Gamestop got one Marth and two Ikes, and the one was immediately bought by an employee...for another employee. However, I've talked to the employee (who's getting it as a gift) and he really genuinely wants that Marth amiibo, so I'm not even mad - I've just been hunting for a pal at this point.
I also got a Metaknight last weekend from the Nintendo World Store - okay I lied, Cinemarella did. There were oddly plenty - the amount they had managed to last two days. Hell, Ike sold out quicker than Metaknight...that says quite a bit. :I
I wonder if NWS will get a ton of Marth this week.
Also, before you get mega salty, I live in NY but that doesn't mean I live in the city. It's a two-hour train ride from upstate and as a result it's not something I could do every day. :/

Walmart had Canadian Preorders up today, and after a lot of refreshing, I almost had Jigglypuff, Robin and Lucina. Had all three of them in my cart, but I was a little late on making the purchase. I'm pretty darn salty about it, too. I got greedy, should've just went for one of them.

I bought Charizard for 20 bucks on Amazon because I was afraid his price would suddenly go up again like Dedede, who I regretted not getting for 20 before it shot back up to 40ish.
Waiting does seem to be the smarter decision, though. Ridiculous prices for Amiibo like Wii Fit trainer for 50 has dropped to like 20-25, and Villager, after being 100 bucks for a short while on Amazon, dropped to like 30-35. Basically, if you hold out long enough, the prices will POTENTIALLY get more reasonable.
I saw Pac Man for 20 today, and I know I'm going to regret not getting that while I could, but I just picked up my copy of DS2 Scholar of First Sin today, so I can't afford it yet.

I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone's speculating that there are a LOT of Pacman that have been produced (that, and all people want are the Fire Emblem characters, anyway) Based on what things sound like, you can probably stroll into a Toys R Us the day of release and pick one up without any issues.
Then again, all this speculation is exactly what I hate about amiibo in the first place. )=

If you only want characters that aren't well-known to casual players (like Ness or Little Mac), then yes, you'll probably get sucked into it hard. You have to get sucked into it in order to find the weird niche amiibo you're looking for.
But if you're looking for Mario or Zelda characters (except maybe Rosalina) then you'll be fine :/
No one's really hyped though about the Splatoon amiibo as the Smash Bros. series and Nintendo seems to be advertising the game very aggressively, so I'd say that there's a very good chance you'll be able to get the Splatoon amiibos in stores once they come out (if you bought a marked-up preorder on eBay for the Splatoon amiibos for like $40 I'd cancel it)
Basically, everyone who wanted to pre-order the Splatoon amiibo most likely already has, so you should be OK just picking up the one you want in-store.
However, in the States it seems like the squid amiibo is exclusive to the three-pack (and that one, as a result might be trickier to get)
Though the Splatoon amiibo in this game are read-only, so you could just borrow a friend's amiibo to unlock the content needed in this game if you get really antsy (and the clothing can be equipped by either the boy or girl, the difference with the school uniform is that the boy wears shorts and the hairclip is changed)

The other day a Canadian Book retail had the three pack of Splatoon amiibaes up for 15 bucks.
I didn't even plan on buying those ones, but you better believe I dropped the money down on it.

So i caved and bought Pac Man and Captain Falcon for 20 bucks a piece, justifying it in my head as the cost of shipping overseas.
I might cave again if any other cool ones drop in price. I saw Little Mac as low as 23 on amazon the other day.
Sucks I couldnt preorder a Splatoon 3 Pack. If any of my friends got it i might just borrow their set for unlocks and return them.

Due to how well the Amiibos are selling, Nintendo could probably just stop game production and just sell those little figures if they wanted to. Glad that's not the case since we all love Nintendo for a specific reason.

ye i got literally all of the amiibos set to come out today. pix on Thursday or so when I actually like, get 'em all here and they're accounted for
oh yeah and i'm pretty much all accounted for with amiibo preorders until september. ye feels great to finally get my life back

My local Gamestop managed to push absolutely zero amiibo besides like Ness...which they only got one of. There were plenty plenty of Splatoon three-packs. If you like, really really want 'em they should be not TOO hard to find. Maybe a little bit of a challenge but like not a total chore
Oh oh I have a humblebrag tale let me share it I wanna share it.
SO I got to Target today around 11:30pm waiting for amiibo with my batshit insane pals (we went today because of reddit saying "YOU GOTTA LEAVE SUPER EARLY IF YOU WANT 'EM") and got kicked off the premises by mall security. It was neat, and everyone who showed up ended up in the same parking lot across the street as we did...so it was basically us nerds sitting across the street in our lawn chairs shooting the shit, etc. (we had lawn chairs. we were ready) One of my friends from amiibo hunting in the past showed up around 1:30, soooo that was cool. He was 4th, and...well, Target was to get 4 Robin and Lucina amiibos (seems like the hardest to find besides Ness) 5 hours later, when we're allowed back on premises, the security guard who kicked us off-premises actually vouches for our places on line, which is just fucking awesome.
Thank you mall cop.
Fast-forward 6 hours, and we're finally on line, and there's a crowd of people behind us. Around 8am, you'll have the real casual amiibo people and then the people only interested in reselling show up around that time, too...and there's this one particular Dickweed. He's bald and on his cellphone from like 1998 telling his friend how he was there to score. The doors finally open, and we're escorted to the electronics section where there's originally some order, but then generally became a clusterfuck, with the front and the back of the lines ending up on the different registers. Scum Of The Earth Dickweed requests Robin and Lucina, and actually gets them, because staff didn't actually maintain the order of the line. My friend's jaw hits the floor. Like what. The fuck.
(Meanwhile, the same Dickweed lleaves the store and comes back about five times, purchasing a Jigglypuff each time. My friends are watching him the whole time as he does this. Seriously what a fucking asshole)
Soooo after that, I head to Toys R Us to pick up my Greninja and spare Pac-Man preorder. There actually aren't many people on line at TRU and so I line up and it's nbd. Turns out they received 13 Lucina and Robin (as opposed to Target's 4). I get my vouchers and at that point, thinkin' all "hell yea more toyz 4 me" but then it hits me. I'm being greedy. ):
I text my priorly shafted friend and tell him I've got two vouchers and they're his if he gets his ass here soon.
His response is a simple ";A;"
and that, my friends, was my Good Deed of the Day.
