RE: Smash Rosters - Crappy Blue Luigi - 04-26-2014 hey, don't tempt me when i play mario kart 7, i play exclusively as my crappy blue luigi mii this would be no different RE: Smash Rosters - Vitesse - 04-27-2014 (04-26-2014, 10:20 PM)[MachoBot RoboSavage] Wrote:Quote:Pacman - To be Announced (To my dismay, his inclusion is becoming more and more likely as of late, so I'm unhappily callin' it) I... -sigh- I don't quite understand what your line of reasoning is. You sound like you're arguing that Pacman is significant enough to be his own character... Which I even said. I included him in the roster because odds are, we ARE going to get him. All I did was express my distaste at having Pacman in the game... But I guess that's not okay and I should just like everything you like. Sure, it's weak and light and slow, but those shortcomings can be worked around. I don't hate Jigglypuff at all. He's one of my favorite characters in EVERY Smash Bros. But the question asked wasn't "Who do you WANT to see in the next Smash Bros?" The question was "Who do you expect to see in the next Smash Bros?" And at this point, I feel that Jigglypuff isn't significant enough at all to justify him returning. Sure, you could totally say that. However Mr. Saturn, Franklin Badge and Samurai Goroh have already been confirmed, so it's pretty likely that Ness and Falcon aren't going anywhere. Especially because Earthbound has such a rabid cult following that removing Ness would send angry fanboys to burn down Namco's office building. And Falcon... What else does the poor guy have? Nintendo downright refuses to make a new F-Zero because Mario Kart's so popular. RE: Smash Rosters - Phantom Killah - 04-27-2014 If anything Jigglypuff's actually more relevant now than it has been for the last two Smash Bros., on account of the recent invention of the "fairy" type (which Jigglypuff is now) RE: Smash Rosters - [robo9] - 04-27-2014 Guys, I hate to say it, but there's no way Jogglypuff is coming back. Someone found a moonstone, Wigglytuff for SSB4! RE: Smash Rosters - SchAlternate - 04-27-2014 So many cuts. Inb4 the roster turns out to be over 60 characters big. RE: Smash Rosters - MrYoshbert - 04-27-2014 Why not just put everyone in Smash Bros.? Nobody can complain about that. Nobody RE: Smash Rosters - TomGuycott - 04-27-2014 Inb4 roster ends up being the same as Brawl's or less. RE: Smash Rosters - Kriven - 04-27-2014 We're already at 29 up on the site, and I feel like there probably aren't hidden characters among them... forty-to-fifty characters seems like it could be a pretty solid estimate. RE: Smash Rosters - [robo9] - 04-27-2014 He's not being rude because you have an opinion, he's fucking with you because you're being so melodramatic RE: Smash Rosters - Kosheh - 04-27-2014 I think I've finally come up with a reply for this thread. I've been trying to find the words, but I think I got it now. It's easy enough to post in a topic like YEAH THESE ARE MY DRAFT PICKS. JIGGLYPUFF OUT, MEWTWO NO CHANCE, CHROM IN, TOM NOOK IN. Like - okay. I can look literally on GameFAQs; Miiverse; Gamespot - and I'm gonna find the same thread everywhere I go: the same tired wishlists, wolf-in-sheep's-clothing replies of "Here's who I think is gonna be in" with as little elaboration as "Well this series needs more reps, and I think um another heavyweight character needs to be in the roster. Yep that's my reasoning". I don't see any actual speculation. I don't care if you think one of the Vivosaurs from Fossil Fighters is going to make it in because you like it and biting Mario would feel really satisfying. I see people saying back-and-forth "so-and-so should be in" and "no that's retarded why would you think that" - why not actually take a critical look at the roster and actually try to figure out who's most likely to be considered for a roster choice? Why is the Mii an ideal choice for the Smash roster? What makes you think they're going to make the cut? Is there any evidence that actually points to a decision like this being made, or is it just a baseless assumption that because people like the prospective addition to the roster that it's going to make it in? Like, why can't we be that one forum on the internet actually do what gamers do best - overanalyze every single shred of news we get and then scramble to make an actually educated guess; then get hyped about it as a collective? Really, at this point all I can see is roster expansions and maybe possibly Sakurai taking a new direction on "Luigi syndrome", rebalancing characters like Ness and Fox to "consolidate" the roster to introduce either reworked veterans or completely new characters...but the latter doesn't really seem likely as it'd cause a lot of international whining. EDIT: hey nice post vvv RE: Smash Rosters - Jermungandr - 04-27-2014 Okay so a couple questions then, for all you pro-Pacman folk. First of all, do you have any ideas as to what his moveset would be like, because as far as I can tell he doesn't have a whole lot to work with. Secondly are there not other characters that you feel would make a good alternative Namco rep? RE: Smash Rosters - Koopaul - 04-27-2014 Oy. The whole "Pac-Man doesn't have much to work with" thing again. I hear this all the time. Instead of explaining it myself I'll direct you to the Pac-Man discussion on the Smash Boards. http://smashboards.com/threads/pac-mans-amazing-full-colour-fan-club-a-friend-to-the-special-flag.324354/ You can find numerous people coming up with all kinds of moves for Pac-Man. All you need is knowledge of the character's video game history and a good imagination to make him a great fighter. And that goes for almost any video game character. Anyone. I truly believe almost ANY character can be a fighter, it's just a matter if they will be. That's pretty much why the whole "he looks like a good fighter/he doesn't look like a good fighter" is a poor reason to pick a character for Smash. That's not why a character should be a fighter. If that were the case Captain Falcon would have never been playable. No. You put in a character for other reasons that have nothing to do with fighting or moveset. Is the character/series iconic? Is the character/series popular? Does Nintendo like this character/series? Does this character/series have multiple games? Are the games important? These are the questions you should be asking. RE: Smash Rosters - Jermungandr - 04-27-2014 No, I didn't mean for that question to be an anti-Pacman statement. I mean I am legitimately curious as to what you guys think his moveset would be like, because I don't know much about Pacman outside the classic ghost-and-maze game to come up with something creative. This is honest-to-God curiosity, I'm not trying to be a jerk. |
