That depends on which roster you look at. Some have Megaman, others have Viewtiful Joe.

What if we used some other shape for the faces instead of squares? I think it will fit better in a small area.

Also, I disagree about having Masked Man as a starter. Kind of ruins the surprise imo.

Just put in Lucas as a starter it would be more of a surprise that way. Genki ^_^

We can. I just used squares as an example.

That's good to hear. Everyone else started using squares for the portraits so I feared it would be used :o

Not that I hate square portraits. But circle portraits are original for SSB and it's more pleasant to the eyes.

Since we're going for one per company, Megaman definitely gets in over Joe. I'm sad to have to cut him. Sad

Maybe we can be an assist or something?

hey, guys. i made my gameplay over representation argument twice now and have gotten maybe 2 responses to it. i hate to be a broken record but is it that out of the question to think about what would make a fun game rather than what would nintendo do?

RE: Character Select/General Art Style - Rökkan - 11-18-2009

but then people would bitch "HEY WHY DOES X COMPANY HAS TWO CHARACTERS AND Y COMPANY DOESN'T HAVE ANY" and "THIS CHARACTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN" and yadda yadda yadda. It'd be much better if we would just do a fair game. Popular franchises get more characters, each 3rd party must have equal rights to the number of characters, and all that stuff. Plus, if we can add any fucking character in, it'd be even more complicated to decide which ones we put in and cut out, because everyone would want to bring their favorite characters to the game. Remember that we're not doing this game just for ourselves, there are a bunch of fans outside, and being fair and reasonable is the most close way to please everyone.

Hey look, it's everyone's favorite response to just about anything!

DLC

Actually, I agree with Rokkan. But if the chance comes, features that are left out can be put on a DLC-like thing.

I think that using the faces of the characters is a good, idea but how are you going to set them up, just a close up view of the sprite, or something different. Personally I think heads kind of like Blazblue's chibi artwork would be good with a white or black border around it would look good.

RE: Character Select/General Art Style - MaverickETC - 11-22-2009

I think it'd be cool if we could have a Versus Screen in the "Melee mode", like in fighting games. I always liked the way it looked on Marvel vs. Capcom 2
