Well, it seems to be finished now.

I mainly had to fix those little brown things on the sides of his face because they were incorrect.
Chespin was the only of the 3 (No longer)starter Pokémon that could fit in as a playable character in Mario-Style.

Just asking did you use the SMB3 palette? And yes this is SMB3 style. There isn't a "general Mario style", despite that a few games used it, so it's just kind of a vague label.
The thing bothering me most is the P-Balloon frame's feet, they seem jaggy and the heels have flat a edge.

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - Gors - 09-05-2013

not to say that P-balloon doesn't work that way in 2D Mario games. Follow the style closely.

No, I didn't use SMB3's palette, I made a custom one, it does look similar to SMB3's.

The "Mario Style" thing is there because it's based on the Mario games' sprites and (mostly)actions, instead of Pokémon, and blends well with most SMAS's sprites if the palettes are correct.
It's kind of like how the mod.gen project's sprites are newer and made differently, but they can still blend in with the MD/CD Sonic Games.

I changed the P-balloon to be kind of the way it is on SM64DS, or atleast, that's how I think it is, I haven't played it in ages.
I would fix his feet on the P-balloon sprite, but how would I change the sheet that's already on the site?

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - Garamonde - 09-05-2013

One of the uploaders will update it on the site.
I asked about the palette because it lacks contrast and it would work better if you pinched colors from the sprites on the site, for example.

I changed the palette a bit and fixed the P-Balloon sprite.

You just made me want Chespin even more now. He's SO cute >3<. You did an excellent job with the sprites here.

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - Neweegee - 10-07-2013

Hope it hasn't been too long, but I want to continue my topic.
I'm doing Sonic The Hedgehog in Mario Style.

I based him on his Sonic CD in-game design.

But I'm having a bit of trouble doing this one though.

Also, I've finally started on the Main Character of the style, Mario.

*I accidentally animated this slower than it should be.
Also it seems Postimage.org has died today so my older sprites won't show.

Anyway, please tell me what you think.

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - E-Man - 10-07-2013

You know, I looked at your entire topic and I have to say that you have some decent stuff here. A lot of your animations are smooth and your palettes are slowly becoming better over time.

This might just be me, but maybe you could include some more frames in Sonic's walk cycle to make it more smooth than it already it? If you can't, don't worry about it!

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - Virt - 10-07-2013

Sonic's front sprite seems to be missing a nose.

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - Goemar - 10-07-2013

I'd reconsider doing an all black outline on Sonic. Makes his spines look odd

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - Neweegee - 10-09-2013

I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I think recycling two of the frames makes the walk a bit smother.

Also, I've completed the rest of the sheet,

Mario is on hold for now. So what do you think of Sonic? Do you think he's ready for TSR?

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - E-Man - 10-10-2013

I might not know much about sprite submissions, but what you have should be fine for uploading onto the main site.

Before you do, though, might I make a suggestion? Goemar mentioned something about the entirely black outline bothering him, so how about creating a colored one like this little something I put together?

Depending on which color the outline is supposed to border, you would use a color that is far darker than the shade you've chosen. Either outline works, but this is only a little something that would resolve the problem relating to the quills.

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - Neweegee - 10-10-2013

I was thinking about what Goemar said, but if I was to change the outline, Sonic would not match the style of the rest of the sprites I've made; I thought it might just be the colours.

This one I tried to use brighter colours, it should make the outlines better but I don't know.

RE: Neweegee's Sprite Topic - Gwen - 10-10-2013

I like the new, brighter one a whole lot more.
