had no idea we're on ponychan, where only butterflies and icecream are valid opinions.

They aren't the only opinion's valid but you don't have to make a big stink if you have an opposing opinion either. There is a difference between saying "Oh the games sprite's look too chuncky and busy for my tastes" and saying "This game is dumb"

RE: Super Smash Gameboy (Holy shit I wish this was online) - Gors - 09-17-2011

long story short: it happens to be a decent game with shit graphics. That's all.

there is no need to resort on irony or complain about the nostalgia factor or anything.

And I don't give a shit about the game either

Also it's kinda lame they stuck to the major four then added in two unrelated characters into this.

I would have liked to see more content. You know, at least the other four of the original 8, and maybe the four unlockables from Bros, and Master Hand. Why did a two-stock Megaman have to be the last boss of Arcade? Where's the ACTUAL villain-character?

The game's pretty solid in its own respects, but they could have done a bit more with it to keep it interesting :F

facts being said, as long as they do implement the aforementioned custom character editor, this game's replay value will skyrocket.

RE: Super Smash Gameboy (Holy shit I wish this was online) - Kitsu - 09-17-2011

Well, according to his posts elsewhere, he's still working on the game. He intends to have anything finished by Christmas time, though he'll likely be adding only online and the character creator thingy and a few other things, such as ports and balancing.

In any case they probably wouldn't be able to do it with out making it look twice as ugly compared to the other sprites.

RE: Super Smash Gameboy (Holy shit I wish this was online) - Kriven - 09-18-2011

There were ugly Donkey Kong sprites in some of the screens I saw.

RE: Super Smash Gameboy (Holy shit I wish this was online) - Gwen - 09-18-2011

Don't know what you were lookingat..as Donkey Kong isn't in.
I know we got past this, but I really think you guys are underselling these sprites, they're really not THAT bad. They're not great, but they're not bad either.

RE: Super Smash Gameboy (Holy shit I wish this was online) - Kitsu - 09-18-2011

I think it's actually a different issue with the sprites:

That is, it isn't so much the fact that they're ugly (though they kinda are), but rather the fact that it would be so easy to make them better with relatively little extra time investment.

Also, I've run into a few issues with getting my Vaporeon pool mixed up with another player's, not to mention actually getting the characters themselves mixed up; if he was gonna do an 8-bit demake of the game, couldn't he have chosen a platform with colors, like the NES or the GBC?

I bet megaman is going to play like samus but slower

RE: Super Smash Gameboy (Holy shit I wish this was online) - Kitsu - 09-18-2011

Megaman does play like Samus. But faster. And with more powerful bombs. (There are, of course, other differences, but the neutral B, air down B, and air side B are pretty much the same as Samus's moves, which is probably why Samus isn't in the game herself.)

Edit: Upon rereading the interview, that's a mock-up image. However, the sprite still exists, so I figured he'd be working on it.
