RE: XC2 formats for XCDE - Sir Teatei Moonlight - 08-04-2020

Time to ask for help again. Sprites like maps and battle UI are in the ".wilay" format. I cannot find anything useul on this format anywhere; the one and only search result is this, with nothing within but "LAHD Texture", and that phrase doesn't have any relevant search results at all. Any ideas?

There is something equally useless here https://tcrf.net/User:BlockBuilder57/XBC2_Unused_Menu_Images

"A male humanoid common Blade with his Greataxe. It seems possible that the design for common Blades was to be used for a rare Blade, due to the filename's index (fim_bl_042.wilay) having a 0 prefix. Its glow texture is from the next image." I've seen that naming format but with png as extensión. So long shot, maybe is just an image compressed with a looseless algorithm, like png files, maybe try with an image editor like gimp or photoshop?

tried a few of that, no luck, the image hex data itself identifies as "LAHD" (first bytes) and I strongly suspect it contains more than just pixel data (there are things that look a lot like floats)

alright I have a new problem

I need to get at the effect models, such as Dunban's energy blades and Metal Face's bloody claws

but they're all in .wiefb files (for which I can find nothing useful online), which from a quick look is packaged/encrypted

Code:
78 62 63 31 01 00 00 00 00 40 39 00 61 9b 10 00
dd 68 a4 d4 65 70 30 34 34 31 2e 77 69 65 66 62
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
78 9c ec bd 0d 78 55 d5 95 30 bc ef ff ff cd 4d
72 43 12 08 10 48 80 00 01 42 12 20 62 20 07 08

xbc1.....@9.a›..
Ýh¤Ôep0441.wiefb
[gibberish]

I can't find any tools that have even been updated for DE, let alone have any reference to this filetype. The headers are clear enough (magic, datasize, filename) but the data is total junk that I have no idea where to begin with

Was just about to but ran into some New Problems. Mecha-Fiora's default weapon seems to have come out strange (a texture is all janky and I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that yet), and Microsoft lied about Visual Studio Community 2019 not having a trial period so I need to figure a way around that.

Well, I'm probably not supposed to be linking to the pending submissions themselves so that's a "no"? I dunno how other people do that sort of thing around here, I might investigate.

Extracting the textures in general is a pain. And VSC just requires a logging into a microsoft account.

And you can upload models to some file sharing site like mega and share it from there. The whole pending system is just for ensuring everything is properly placed and textures are PNG, etc. Ex: https://www.vg-resource.com/thread-34836.html

Also I currently have all of Melia's outfits + textures so far. I plan on doing Shulk and Dunban next. I'll try and give you guys a mega link within this week or so.

Though I legitimately cannot describe the tedious process the texture extracting process is, your tools will be godsend.

Hi, you mentioned quite some time ago that you have all of Melia outfits. The XCDE have so little love and I really would love to have all her models.

ever since I discovered the (minor but noticeable) problems with the current tools, I've been busy making my own, and once it's better than the current stuff I can go through and get submissions going again

Any luck figuring out how to edit the .WILAY files? I am using the XenobladeToolset-0.4.64-win64, tex_to_dds.cmd. It will load the texture under visual studio. I can edit it, however I can not resave it as a .WILAY file. So I can't load the custom texture on my Nintendo Switch. I hope you found a solution brother. I am so close to clean HUD, just one last hurdle to cross.
