RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - E-Man - 10-16-2013

I think the HD remake addressed the matter of the controls, so it's likely that it's more enjoyable to play. What I don't like about the second game is that it sacrifices exploration and makes exploring the Disney worlds almost linear.

Yeah, the first is still my favorite. The second wasn't bad. Then the series got pretentious and self-indulgent, same as the Final Fantasies. I played for a handful of new characters interacting with famous video game characters and badass versions of Disney characters, not a bunch of unlikable clowns in robes who talk at length about crap I don't care about and also here is Mickey.

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - TomGuycott - 10-16-2013

Dream Drop Distance basically ruins the simplicity of the first one with implications that events in the first game meant much more complex things than they originally appeared.

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - E-Man - 10-16-2013

I guess that might have something to do with the fact that Square-Enix didn't count on Kingdom Hearts to become the series it is today and attempted to make all the plot points from the first game work with the current story. On top of that, when the organization came into the picture, the fans became obsessed with the robed weirdos to the point at the big SE centered the franchise around them.

That's fan service for ya...

I guess I'm the only one who actually really likes the plot and characters then.

Actually, you're not. Tongue
It's probably nostalgia, but I love the characters and the over convoluted story.

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - Koh - 10-16-2013

Well the games aren't nostalgic for me, because I didn't have the opportunity to play them when they originally came out, save for Chain of Memories on the GBA, which was my first game. I just like that they've given a lot of thought to the story and developed the characters, rather than it being a shallow save the girl story.

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - TomGuycott - 10-16-2013

I love the games and even the story, but I can't take it SERIOUSLY is all, despite their best efforts to make it a more serious narrative sometimes. Its just too convoluted to take too seriously, and whenever they insert Disney characters into the scene it just becomes laughable.

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - Kriven - 10-16-2013

It would be nice if they could move to a simpler plot and away from all this Dark vs. Light nonsense. I always thought it would be cool if the Queen of Hearts took over the Heartless and intended to use them to access Kingdom Hearts. And that's it, that's the story. Stop the Queen from getting to Kinngdom Hearts.

What would be wrong with that?

Bring in Oswald the rabbit, make him the anti mickey or something.

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - Kriven - 10-17-2013

Oswald could be Mickey's Nobody.

I've always wanted a mission focused on the present day Disney Castle where the world's villain was Mortimer. The world could possibly reach out beyond the castle grounds to show other aspects from the Mickey world, including the House of Mouse and Duckberg, etc.

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - E-Man - 10-17-2013

I swear! If Sora has the ability to swim in Scrooge McDuck's Money Bin, it would easily make Kingdom Hearts 3 the best game in the series!

Actually, Mickey's Nobody would just be like Mickey. Dream Drop Distance makes a convoluted reason why Sora's nobody is practically a different person. All the Organization XIII Nobodies actually looked virtually the same to their human counterparts, with a few explainable exceptions.

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - StarSock64 - 10-18-2013

I think I'd like KH a lot more if Org. XIII didn't exist

RE: The Big Three for Kingdom Hearts - Koh - 10-18-2013

But....but but but but but! What about the music they brought?
