Anyhow, the graphics thing leads me to believe the game is really early in development right now. I'm thinking it'll probably be a Holiday 2010 release (unless its date has been confirmed otherwise, I don't know yet, please tell me if it has).
I like the styling of the characters, and lets be honest, it's been building up to animu for a while, check the Fusion and Zero Mission end-of-game splash screens, this is nothing new.
The name is a little odd, but I'll give them some credit, it might have a good relevance to the story, it might not, whatever.
I should hold my opinions until we see more gameplay trailers and get more info.

It looks interesting, but not Metroidy. Sorry, but wrestling Zebesians doesn't sound like classic Metroid action. Seriously, from the teaser, it looked more like a run-n-gun than an exploring game.
It still looks like it could be fun though, and Malkovich FTW.

but is this a reboot of the franchise? I read somewhere it takes place in between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. I initially thought it was a retelling of the Metroid franchise tbh.

Personally I've never felt complete with the latest entries of the Metroid games. Wall 2 wall exploration and isolation is cool. but the combat is what can make this game into more of a thriller.
Like the build up of exploration all of sudden BOOM flying bats all in your face. Personally I don't think a Team who's been doing it right for awhile now can do it wrong. RND1 is known for polish TN is known for epic. I see no failing formula here sirs.

This game is awesome because it's a Metroid game. Well, and I think that.
