RE: Kirby 3DS - Ton - 10-02-2013

Just got a job. Buying a 3DS XL with my first check. We so excited.

RE: Kirby 3DS - E-Man - 10-02-2013

Congrats, man! The thrill of buying whatever you want with the money you earned is always satisfying!

Kevin, please make sure your posts have substance before submitting.

RE: Kirby 3DS - E-Man - 10-02-2013

Anyway, to get back to the topic, what abilities would we expect to return in this game?

I can see that Suplex (with a new hat), Fire, Spark, Sword, Fighter, Ice, Beam, Bomb, and Ninja are set to return, but any chance there could be others? Also, what about any new ones?

Kevin, you need more than sprites if you want to actually contribute to tSR. Part of it actually comes from posting meaningful posts. For example, instead of shouting that you like Kirby, why not also tell us why you like the games? Is the the gameplay? Could it be the art style? What about the characters? Just look into those and give us good reasons for each. Follow that piece of advice and you'll do just fine!

RE: Kirby 3DS - Jermungandr - 10-02-2013

I think it's obvious why anyone would love Kirby games. That Dedede is a sexy beast.

RE: Kirby 3DS - E-Man - 10-02-2013

If DeDeDe is going to be in the next Smash Bros. game, there will be no way I will ever stop playing has him! The character is just too fun to ignore!

I can't wait to see what the self-proclaimed king of Dream Land has in store for us in this new Kirby game!

RE: Kirby 3DS - Darky's Reincarnation - 10-04-2013

i hope leaf returns, that was one sexy ability

same goes for spear, jesus.

RE: Kirby 3DS - E-Man - 10-04-2013

If the Leaf ability were to return, why would I get the feeling that it would be nerfed due to it's ability to make you invincible to almost any attack?

RE: Kirby 3DS - Jermungandr - 10-05-2013

I doubt it. Balanced stats is not really something the Kirby games tend to concern themselves with. It's not like you can competitively play against others.

Besides, the Stone ability has allowed you to do that since the NES.

RE: Kirby 3DS - E-Man - 10-05-2013

Despite that, though, the stone ability feels relatively balanced due to the catches that come with it. Sure, you're invincible, but it feels a little awkward to change from Kirby to stone since guarding feels a little more polished and fluid. On top of that, the attacks of the stone are a little clunky and awkward, so it keeps stone from being more overpowered than it already is. As for leaf, not only is it better at attacking (a bit weaker, but a lot more tolerable than attacking as a stone), but the guard ability on leaf makes the stone ability seem almost useless. While it is true that stone is one of the few abilities out there that are capable of pounding pegs, but given the choice between an awkward way of becoming invincible and a more polished way, which one will most players choose?

RE: Kirby 3DS - Phantom Killah - 10-05-2013

I've never played the game that features the leaf ability (Return to Dream Land I'm guessing?), but one of the series' long standing abilities is tornado, which allows you to become completely invincible and fly around the screen and kill everything. If it's never needed to be nerfed I can't see why leaf would

RE: Kirby 3DS - TomGuycott - 10-05-2013

Also see Mirror, an ability with an invulnerable shield free of all chip damage. Not AS powerful seeing as it doesn't do much damage to enemies, but still.

Properly used, a LOT of Kirby abilities decimate enemies. Look at Jet in Superstar. It can one hit KO certain bosses if you do the throw move on them.
