That would require re_making the it. Plus my intension was to use mouse and mouse only. Not tools.

Oh no, effort.
Just sketch out a circle to use as a base. Not that hard.

you uh
didn't change anything at all there aside from making him bigger

sketch out a circle and then fix it up and then paste the face onto it

I can't really imagine what difference it will make or why I should do that? Plus that destroys the concept of using my hand to draw it and using no tools Tongue.

RE: Cartoon Styled Sonic in MSPAINT - Devicho - 01-30-2010

You should draw the circle so that you can use it as a base for Sonic's skull, instead of just having spikes jutting out the back of his face. Also you can draw circles with your hand.

Yeah but it's take freaking ages to get right by hand. Ill try something a little later on that.

Are you challenging yourself by not using any tools? Tools are there to help, it's a fact of life. Sure, tools don't work for everything, and there are times you SHOULDN'T use tools, but unless you've got a masochistic plot to purposely hinder yourself by not using a tool, then why not use them?

RE: Cartoon Styled Sonic in MSPAINT - Devicho - 01-30-2010

And besides, you're not gonna get better at things without trying to just do them.

RE: Cartoon Styled Sonic in MSPAINT - Maxpphire - 01-30-2010

Hell, Don't even use the tool, just draw a circle.

^^Something like this, except put more effort into it than I did^^

Unfinished, done in paint with left hand (I'm sort of ambidextrous using mouse, but not with regular pencil XP)

Ahhhhh, I see you're point. Ill give it a go. Thanks for the help !

Wait I need to clarify something here:

Don't think of the head as a circle, think of it as a sphere with 3d shapes built onto it.

You're still only drawing a circle but you need to think of everything as a 3d object, not a flat plane.

Also:
don't try drawing with a mouse unless you can draw with a pencil. As in a real one. In your hand.

I personally hate this virtuoso bullshit that you're apparently more of an artist for drawing with limited tools. Ingenuity does come out of being limited but that doesn't mean that using shit tools magically makes you better; ultimately the end result is the thing. It wouldn't matter if you'd drawn this by hand or in mspaint or if you'd done it in oils, it's still got issues from having no underlying structure and a frankly shitty approach to things.

If you don't want to work or spend time on drawing then all I can tell you is: don't draw. It is hard graft. It is time consuming. And ultimately you have to want to do it and want to improve, or you'll never get anywhere.

Also for fuck's sake it's your.
