RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Sketchasaurus - 12-03-2013

It could instead of becoming an Iguanodon, evolve into something more aquatic in appearance/less plain (Iguanodon is not as visually interesting as other dinosaurs in that group)
If the Iguana goes a dinosaur/prehistoric reptile route it could potentially become something like the following:
Ouranosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Corythosaurus, Lambeosaurus
Spinosaurus, Baryonix, Suchomimus (though I'd avoid these because a: Spinosaurus is somewhat cliché now, and they all look like crocodiles)
Dimetrodon
Plesiosaurus
Mosasaurus
Liopleurodon
Or, if all else fails, you could base it off of the american Godzilla which, in the movie, is heavily implied to be a super-mutated marine iguana.

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - SchAlternate - 12-03-2013

I'd personally lean towards a Ouranosaurus-esque appearance, with the spikes iguanas have on their back becoming a sail.

It'd make for a good fossil Pokemon, eh?

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Chaoxys - 12-04-2013

I think we should have a Mosasaurus as a Aerodactyl type fossil pokemon, as in, a stand alone 3rd fossil. I could see it being it's own thing, this massive water monster thing that you get from... idk, I was trying to think of something other than a fossil (like the Old Amber).

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Koopaul - 12-05-2013

I'll add that as a fossil suggestion then.

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - mutantyoshi - 12-05-2013

Why not revive it from an ice block? I also like the idea of a 3rd no evolutional fossil.

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - psychospacecow - 12-05-2013

Alright, 3rd no evo sounds good for it then.

Oh, I like that idea.

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Koopaul - 12-07-2013

So I'm not exactly sure how we go about deciding which ideas for Pokemon we should use outside the standard ones that need to be in the Pokedex. Last time things got kind of crazy.

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - mutantyoshi - 12-07-2013

Id say, we should just stick with what we know, we need:
normal rodent
Electric rodent
Cat
Bird
Psudo legendary
Legandary trio
Main legendary
Fossils

I feel that we should just stick to these for right now, and worry about filling the rest of or later, we can always used scrapped ideas for those above to fill in the remaining spots if no other ideas come forth.

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Chaoxys - 12-07-2013

Yeah, outside of the standard pokemon that show up each gen, I think we could more or less use all the other ideas. THey are all fairly basic so it seems like things would more so come down to the designs than the concepts.

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - SchAlternate - 12-07-2013

So hey, we've never talked about the tiger fire starter.

We have the kiwi that has parts of a, well, kiwi fruit, and we have the iguana that'll become a prehistoric reptile (DIBS ON OURANOSAURUS/DIMETRODON).

So, would the tiger have some elements from Hindu/Chinese mythology?

I say we go with the wiki page's thing.
"The Chinese call an able general a "tiger general" and a brave soldier, a "tiger warrior".

In Chinese folk tales, tigers kill evil men and protect good men. Tiger charms are used to keep away disease and evil, and babies are given colourfully embroidered tiger shoes for protection."

Also, it says
"The Chinese system of feng shui (geomancy) requires that a burial site be higher on the right side, the stronger side of the body, so that the White Tiger can guard it; the Azure Dragon guards the left side, the body's weaker side."

We could make the water type a pseudo dragon and keep the theme with both of them.

RE: VGResource Pokédex Project: IDEA PITCH - Chaoxys - 12-07-2013

If the water and fire types have a common theme then we'd probably need one for the Kiwi as well. Not like it'd have to by something major.
