Ash's Sprite Dump

Yeah, it's really hard to get a game going if you don't know any coding before you start.

Put the male and female in the hooded figure's type of clothing for testing reasons. And I also did some facial hair.

[Image: 8390356c78aabc7912ad8000ce66c090.png] Doing some reworking of a Mega Man redesign I had on my old thread since most of the people I asked didn't seem to like the palette and arms. Much more happy with this version than my last, even if it is just redone arms. x2 version here

No! The old version was better, because the arms were original. Now it just looks like Megaman X with a different helmet. :I

[Image: 24c999bda5309a55b6aa6e404040378f.png]Haven't been up to too much with sprite work, been sick along with depressed and even had to go to the hospital due to an eye strain that lets just say wasn't pleasant, so that has basically put me in a state of "I can't do anything." So today I finally picked things back up and made this simple NES inspired Engineer from Team Fortress 2. Got this idea of a Active Tower Defense type of game idea inspired by Team Fortress 2's Mann vs Machine. Might make a mock up image if I get motivated enough to do more work.

EDIT: I decided to try making a very very basic mockup image [Image: s2A2MSU.gif] some rocks, some dirt, and color swapping engineer.

EDITEDIT: Someone said that the red engineer mended into the background a little, so here is a more dry look. [Image: BnDGnsq.gif]

Latest mockup along with every thing I have done related to this spriting project. Grey versions indicate robot team. So far I have engineer, pyro, soldier, and spy.

[Image: 95981313aa947417719e1d67351abd01.png]So I was busy today with working on a character that i've had for 2 years now that originated from a mega man 7 fc mod, 2 years ago is when I got interested in spriting and from then to now I have done 8 versions of this one character, I decided to make this timeline to show my spriting progress from 2 years of spriting. But other than that I have nothing to show.

I think I got ya beat on versions of one character. Wink I think the second- and third-to-last ones are my favorite, but they all look so cool. ^^ I wonder how those two I mentioned would look if they had long hair like the last one.

Oddly enough, the best way to make something look like it's glowing is... *drum roll* Pillow shading. *lady screams* Yes, pillow shading; it's how they've been doing it for years. Just look around the sight at all the energy-based attacks, especially on light sabers, and you'll see it (although Megaman X added the gradient on slashes to give the appearance of fading light).

[Image: ff7CAI7.gif] [Image: b458f2a842acb00295e81d68e6b6b7e4.png]So I recently started to crack down on myself to actually get a feel for game maker and GML, and this is the first thing I decided to do. In a way its a sprite post, but in another way I am posting the starting point for me finally getting to know this kind of stuff. I didn't exactly know where I should post something like this, since it isn't a game and more of me learning how to make a game, but I happened to add sprites of a recent enemy design as the playable. Idle/Walk frames on top. Jump and fall frames on the bottom.

He's leaning a tad bit forward. You should put the front leg ahead a few pixels and/or move the upper body a pixel back.

Normally the balance test would be just flipping it horizontally and see if it stays the same for you.

You need to make sure his center of gravity is right in the middle of the sprite.

[Image: c228fa09c5f6988b18752e0c6366f799.png] Decided to try some palette limiting practice as I don't do it as much as I would like. I did not pick these colors they were picked by someone else and I just worked with them.
