I seriously don't get why some people here are having a hard time understanding the reasoning behind people's reactions.

I seriously don't.

You can't ignore/exclude people from hearing an inside joke irl-- if they're within earshot, they will hear it.

On the internet, notably, an internet message board, it is VERY easy to keep your inside jokes inside. If you leak an inside joke/reference, that not everybody will get, onto a public message board, people will take that offensively, because you're taking the extra effort to post your inside joke/reference on a message board that is none the wiser about the subject.

i've understood that the whole time i just
maybe im not wording this right

it's easy to not give a shit about an inside joke in real life

but if you see an inside joke on the internet you need to get mad? what

whats the thought process there? "if i /hear/ an inside joke i'm fine but if i /read/ one i need to go punch someone"

An analogy:
if you are with friends and you share an inside joke while, say, in a coffee shop or something, nobody else in the coffee shop will be offended, they don't even know you. They're not being left out simply by not knowing you.

if you're in a conversation with a larger group of friends
and some of you keep sharing an inside joke
that's alienating and kind of disrespectful to the other people who are uninvolved with the joke, but would still otherwise be involved in the conversation

Number two is more like what this is.

Or maybe I'm reading too heavily into it and my confusion is reason to troll me some more.
Because I MAD or sum'n.
