you have to restart steam. it will download the update, and the you'll be able to play.

hey so turns out you simply CANNOT even target someone with the medigun if they have the equilizer out, and a certain medic is getting screamed at for not healing people

I Bluescreened 2 times last night after the update as well, good to see it wasn't just me.

Though it seems to be fine now, have been on an idle server for 11 hours just fine.
