We all know about rare games (Not talking about the game company, Rare, that made Banjo - Kazooie, lol), so for those who don't know about rare games, I'll give ya a small explanation:

Rare games are either:

  • Games made in less quantities than any of the very common video games
  • Defuncted old games (I'll allow defuncted cell phone games) that were removed off the market
  • Hard to find games that cost an arm and an leg on stores such as Amazon and/or eBay

So yeah, I'm gonna open up this topic by telling ya the 2 rare games I actually own irl. I own Trip World for the Nintendo Gameboy, and Magical Chase GB for the Nintendo Gameboy Color. Whatcha think?
I haven't even heard of Magical Chase or Trip World. That being said, Trip looks very familiar for some reason. Maybe I saw sprites from Trip World when looking for references. In either case both of those games look fun!

I actually like collecting obscure games, although I'm not sure how rare any of them are. I think the rarest game I have is Pocky and Rocky 2 for the SNES. I have a physical copy of Earthbound as well, but that seems less impressive since the Virtual Console version was released. I was able to get Rival Schools for PS1 fairly cheaply last year. Normally it runs about $200, but I found it for like $40. Looks like a similar situation happened to me for Steambot Chronicles for PS2 a while back. I just did some research, but I guess I really lucked out on Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman as well. My local used game store had that one for like $3 and it was just sitting on a shelf for like a year.

Right now on my 'get when I find a good price' list is The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang for SNES, Burning Rangers for Sega Saturn, and Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times for the DS.
I play Mega Man 5. It's a rare game on the NES. It's one of my favorite Mega Man games as well as, 11, 8, and 2.
I like it because it seems like you get a better chance of getting a 1-up than the others that I've played.

EDIT: And the M Buster Charge-up shot is bigger than Mega Man 4's and 6's Charge-up shot
