Planning on creating a project that demos various 2D platformer type sprites by letting you switch between them while running around a simple map. I want to add some great examples so I came to the experts. What is your favorite animated game sprite or sprites?
My most favorite would have to be from Sonic Advance. 2 and 3 specifically...

A more traditional platformer with great sprites: Magical Pop'n for the Super Famicom Smile
The Donkey Kong Country series & Yoshi's Island come to mind.
games with labyrinths...
ex.:
alien 3... genesis and snes
Pretty much anything from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, particularly Alucard's sprites.
I love the sprites in most Metal Slug games and Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure.
Can't have 2D platforming without Mario and Sonic.

I second Dragon Ball : Advanced Adventure.
Hi, I'm thirding Advanced Adventure sprites. I could kiss them.
Sweet, thanks for all the replies! I will check them all out and share a link when I get the project done.
Out of all of the classic Sonic games. I prefer Sonic 3's over the first two. Mainly Sonic himself for the most part out of his incarnations.
Also both Earthworm Jim games and Aladdin (Genesis/Amiga/DOS), which were converted from amazing hand-drawn animations.
Astro from Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Mega Man from Mega Man 8/& Bass, Shantae (any game), I could go on for quite a while.
Flashback, MMX4, Rocket Knight Adventures, Toki (ARC), Kirby Superstar.
