Full Version: Beats in video game music that sound similar?

Sometimes, imitation is a work of art. In fact, some people might of been influenced, and snuck some references in their music.

For starters, here's one that caught me off guard. The GBA version of Donkey Kong Country 3 had to have new music composed, since the GBA couldn't handle the low notes in it's OST. (Amazing sound hardware, right?), Here's the GBA version of the track "Nuts and Bolts".

Note the beat for the 1st couple seconds sounds oddly like this:

Yup, the Non-US version of the Sonic CD boss theme. Both of the into beats sound like they have an uncanny design to each other, by the instruments used, and the general beat. Not to mention both play behind the main music. The only real difference is that's it's off by one note in DKC3.

Dunno if it's intentional, but I found that funny. Also, post any oddly similar beats you've found.
We've already got a thread dedicated to this here: http://www.vg-resource.com/thread-27962.html
Though I'll be the first to admit that one is in the wrong section (General instead of Gaming).
@Koh.

This post should just be merged to that thread, then?

I don't mind Big Grin.
It makes more sense for a thread like this to be in the Gaming discussion section, anyhow.
I can't help but comment on Sonic Rush Adventure's soundtrack for a few tracks. I believe when you get the hovercraft, the island theme changes, and you hear a chant "Feeling Hot! Hot! Hot!" or something similar sounding. I know it's a reference to Dead Line Zone's theme from Sonic Rush, which had a similar Vocal bit, but it sounded less like the song Hot Hot Hot by Banshees of Blue (Something like that). Also, the Big Swell boss theme starts out very similar to Coolio's Gangster's Paradise.
