I beat the All-Star version with my girlfriend not too long ago. All of it, even after the soul shattering realization that there was a World A after World 9, and then it seemed like the letters wouldn't stop. I don't recommend it.
All-Star is the definitive version IMO. The updated graphics and such make the world seem more alive. 8-bit has a charm, but minimalistic 8-bit where there's hardly any environmental stuff to make the areas interesting doesn't have much charm, lol. This is why Zelda 1 so desperately needs a remake, because Hyrule is a bland desert, and all the dungeons look samey.

As for games I haven't finished, the first that comes to mind is Silver Surfer on NES. That game is just totally horrendous in its design.
Windwaker ended at the triforce charts quest.
chaos emeralds? what are those? ive never ever heard of them in my life!

being forever in debt with a raccoon is the worst

wily could take over the world for all i care

7 years in the future, and ganondorf still had me stuck in the shadow temple

i may be the night, but joker had me at daylight

if you like whipping me, dont expect me to be your lawyer

fus ro damn it

- Jade Cocoon 2 (PS2), last boss was too hard.
- Dino City (SNES), the levels just got harder and harder.
- Donkey Kong (GB), I think I gave up when I was in the last area (Big City?).
- Super Mario All-Stars (SNES), I couldn't beat a single game.
- Mega Man X (SNES), failed at Sigma.

you should replay it on Wii U, the new port is way more comfortable then the GC version. It also looks better =D
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon: The reason why I never bothered to finish this one was because the game got a bit tedious on missions later all in the game. In fact to tell you the truth the whole mission thing was just kind of silly to be honest given that in the last game you had to just beat a story.

Also not to gripe but... what happened to the whole ghost painting thing that the last game had? It would have been cool if they made it so that E. Gadd could make missions to capture certain ghosts in each mansion and turn em into paintings. That felt like a missed opportunity.

Majora's Mask: As much as I desperately want to beat this game's story... Stone Tower

Fucking Stone Tower.

I don't even know what the fuck I'm doing when I'm in this dungeon.

Super Mario RPG: Advice to self if I ever restart this game for shits and giggles is to get the nok nok shell and all the other powerups you could find from the bean stalk. Because without those items the axem rangers are a BITCH to fight.

insert ton of other games I never bothered to beat for list of reasons. there's too many to the point that I don't even remember which ones I was playing.
