I'll be honest with you guys. I don't see how they are similar (apart from size but that's really not much to go on). When I first designed the rival character, I'll admit I was thinking of her being a "dark" version of Arisa, but Gors didn't want that. My earlier design looked a bit too much like Arisa.

So I kept at it (at one point I designed her to be a wizard, like Kamek) and it eventually went to Belle's current design.

I'm not very good at designing clothing at all, but seeing Arisa's "school uniform" attire, I designed Belle's to look like that of a rival school's uniform (or something like that).

Maybe my eyes don't work but other than their similar height, I can't see how they're to be evenly matched. Perhaps someone can explain it to me. Is there some deeper aspect I'm not getting?

I still like the shorter Belle. I acknowledge the critique but I feel making her taller would establish herself as being superior than Arisa; which is something she's striving to do already. A rival knows they have to outmatch the hero. If they're already one step ahead, then there's no substance to their goal. You know what I mean? Belle is trying to be the hero despite being short and ordinary.

And besides, with short Belle, you can't deny that she's the...

Come on. You know you wanna hug her.

Joking aside, in the end, it's Gors' game. Even if it is a character I designed (with his help of course), if he wants to change it, then I can't argue about it.

...You know, this joke makes a lot less sense to me then it did 3 minutes ago.

Know what? Looking back at it and them side by side, I actually think it's perfectly fine. It conveys what the character is trying to portray (a cheeryful main character wannabe). Maybe it could go with some wardrobe changes Mowtaku suggested and some other differences, but I think this is good.

So disregard what I said about taller version, I like this one.
And with that, it's GORS' GAME. Not TSR game 50,000 that takes eternity to make due to clashing visual interests. Rolleyes

Why do people say this about every long/tall thing? Blank
Well um, she is still cute and I completely agree that she looks different enough.
Maybe somewhere down the road she could have a sister that is tall like the second one because I just really like the longer bullet idea.
Gors seems to agree that the shorter one looks better so I think she will do fine in the game.
Reading dragonboys post, i have to agréé that the small RIval thing us actually better than the billet i posted,

She's a long thing with a basic cylindrical shape and a rounded top. It's basically 8=D without the 8. ...And with clothes and hair I guess.
You guys are perverts, that 2nd one is clearly a tube of lipstick

I like the current design, It's pretty obvious that Arisa and Belle are two different characters.
As for whether or not she is interesting, of course she is. She has to be similar to Arisa,

They are the same caliber

ITT: someone does a desing for gorsal without knowing how to desing a character, no one understands proper character desing, everyoen is afraid/scared of "offending" gorsal.

basically, its a bad character desing and relying purely on "animations" and "dialogue" its a terrible thing when your game is a platformer, not a story driven RPG/adventure/etc.
So are you guys really afraid of insulting me or something here? Because if so, I'll be frank and say you are all being pathetic.

I mean, I understand that some of might hold me in high regards or something, but don't ever be "afraid" of criticizing my work. You can still like the actual design while having an intelligent and cohesive arguments, like Zac. Just don't follow with the rest, avoiding giving criticisms to me because you are insulting me more than anything by doing this.

Finally I have said all the reasons for her looking like an edit of Arisa (a recolor rival character referencing in a very tongue-in-cheek way how some media creates "new" characters by using the main character as base), that I'm willing to work on it anyway and there is no need to get upset by all this. So please be calm and sincere when giving criticism, for god's sake.

Also I will settle on her being taller. I believe this will be the biggest difference for now, the rest will be minor tweaks on design so she doesn't stray away too much from the original idea.

tl;dr red name and three stars mean shit when giving critique. Be as harsh as you'd be to a stranger.
If Arisa is supposed to be every manga girl stereotype and Belle every antihero/rival stereotype, try to make her look like such. I think most will agree that Belle, as she looks like now, looks more like an NPC.
I really think you should brainstorm with Dragonboy on how to make her look more like a rival and less like 'Arisa 2'. Even Shadow started off as a cat (something 99.9% of the Sonic fan artists don't realize).
