Really disappointed if this is true.

Basically makes me not want it anymore.
Kinda off-topic (As far as the main topic goes.) but I've always wondered why there's such a huge deal about casual gamers. I can understand not wanting the overall quality of games to go down due to people buying just about anything, but there are clearly still some great games coming out, and since the dawn of video games there have been terrible ones so it's not like that's a new thing.

I've always just seen video games as basically a form of entertainment anyway. I've never seen people complain about causal moviegoers, or casual readers, but eh.

Anyway new Kirby game hnnngh
Also I need a 3DS but I'm broke ;A;
I think the deal with casuals is pretty much the fact that they're getting so much attention now. It's kinda like when a new baby is born and the parents tend to spend a bit more time around the younger child than the older one for a short while, and, naturally, the older child might complain that "mommy and daddy aren't paying attention to me anymore, I hate them, waaa waa waa."

N-not that I'm saying core gamers are whiny little kids...

@Dazz, yeah, that does somewhat limit the potential for same-system multiplayer.

Either way, at this point, WiiU's most interesting feature to me is its potential secondary use as a tablet. Because then I can get something that plays Nintendo games AND I can draw on it.
Just seen the E3 presentation of Nintendo in its entirety.
I am so happy to own a 3DS right now. It's just that I have to save a lot of money (if possible).
When I saw the line-up for the Wii U, it brought a sinister smile to my face. Not that I like the games (in contrary), but that all those "PS3 exclusive" and "X-Box exclusive" game developers are converted. I believe that Nintendo will dominate the market, letting Sony and Microsoft bite the dust.
The tables have turned. Sony and Microsoft will now rely on their fans and possibly the casual market they set up with Move and Kinect, while Nintendo stands supreme.
That's just my view. I might be too optimistic.
I guess that does make sense. I've seen a bunch of people talking about how x is forgetting about their real fans or whatever, but really, gaming is a business, and if companies realize that there is a vast market available, of course they'll want to include as many people as they can in their demographic.
Looks like it was all about Nintendo again. I seriously have no problem with them at all, I just really didn't find much fun in the Wii after the initial thrill of having one. But aside from the weird name, I'm really looking forward to this 'Wii U' business. A little skeptical about this screen controller thing, but I'm sure it probably just needs a test run just like the 3DS did to really get a feel for it
Am I the only one
that's tired of all these same Mario games with like, one or two added features?
Like I may be mistaken here but

I'm getting tired of owning the same game
(also same goes with Halo and Assassin's Creed OKAY)
I am actually happy that Mario 3D is what it is. Something I can call a sequel to Mario 64, unlike the Galaxy games and Sunshine.
I do have to confess, New Super Mario Bros. Mii looks like Nintendo is milking the Super Mario Bros. name.
@Rakia: Maybe you are the only one, but everyone has his or her own opinion.

Really don't know why I'm friends with people sometimes.

i really wish people who use the word "casual" got treated like people who use the word "epic" unironically
Epically casual.

You guys do realize that it takes a lot of extra power to basically duplicate what's happening on screen and put it on a smaller screen simultaneously, right?

Honestly I'm not surprised right now that this is what they're doing-- right now, we don't even know if more than one Wii U controller can be synched to the Wii U yet. Give it time, the thing was just announced yesterday. It's not coming out until next year.
Fuck you nintendo.

Can't I keep any of my money?

These were my words throughout most of the Nintendo presentation.

I sort of agree; though 'casual' has something of a practical use, in the same way that 'gamer' does; despite both of those words being horribly abused when discussing video games.

In the same way that saying "people who play games" and "games enthusiasts" can be short-handed to "gamer"; "games to be played in a relaxed fashion" or "playing games infrequently" is easily short-handed to casual.

It's when you start using it with a negative implication that it becomes annoying and problematic.

Wow I just described the common social use of 'gay' by accident, whoops.
Im fucking psyched even if it has a wierd ass controller
I think people who use the word casual gamer are just biased to anything Nintendo!!!!

I don't know how anyone can belittle the WiiU yet, like wait to fucking try it first, sheesh.
