You can have your "freedom of expression" or whatever you want to call it, and it's perfectly OK. Parodies and similar are completely fine.
But in the moment you make a profit using something derivated from other people's work, they fall on you like a ton of bricks- that's why Psyguy also had to redesign and rename all of "his" characters to make them look nothing like the edited and custom sprites he was using before. (His store still had to get rid of the previous stuff anyways.)

In general, videogame companies couldn't care less for sites like this one (ripping and archiving their copyrighted sprites and licensed characters at a regular basis, without mentioning the sprite comic and fan game business) as long nobody here attempts to make a profit from their stuff, that's all. Otherwise, things can get complicated and ugly as hell.
What if we where to get permission from the companies however? It isn't impossible but it might be a bit of a pain to deal with.

I guarantee royalties will be involved. Probably not worth the trouble even if it does work out.
Just stuff with the tSR logo and the mascots (like the official mascot) will do.
And some random unrelated T-shirts like "With a t-shirt like this, who needs pants?"
100% original material, totally unrelated to anything like game sprites or licensed stuff?
It can be done immediately, using a service like cafepress (www.cafepress.com) or similars.
Just get sure to read their FAQ section to avoid upleaseant surprises later.
I guess that'd be simple enough. I'll look into some online store stuff, cafepress might not be the best, so I'll check some others out.
there's no profit from cafepress unless you make the prices retardedly inflated, like $20 per shirt.
Well, I'm glad the shop idea is getting some thought.
Why stop at a t-shirt? Hats, keychains, magnets.

If you'd like a non-sprite related bit, I'm awesome at making up T-shirt slogans.

sell the dazz hat with fake hair extensions sewn into the hat

you will be glad you did dazz because it would sell like crazy
also another mascot wouldn't be a bad idea

make tigerlily into a mascotable character~
kosh don't suggest that
he'll actually do it
this is tigerlilly we're talking about
A logo shirt would be cool. But please don't stamp the god awful never seen anywhere anyway 'official' mascot on anything.

my thoughts exactly
Wait, we have a mascot? But, yeah, maybe like a T-shirt with the tSR logo on it. Or a Magnet. Or a coloring book or something, if you were desprate enough.

Y'know... a coloring book wouldn't be a bad idea... useless, yes, but those pages ARE just linearts, right?
