My best friend and I went to see Angry Birds

It was ok-ish, I'm a little conflicted what to think of it exactly.
I feel that most of the good stuff was covered in the trailers, and all the rest was repeated until it wasn't funny or entertaining anymore.

Also finally saw...the ghostbuster's trailer...
I'd say everything wrong has already been pointed-out.
All I'll add is I actually hope that movie flops completely.
Part of me wonders and worries what really will happen, though...

Speaking of trailers, I was watching [as] last night after I got home, and one of the Angry Birds trailers was on. I realize I might be biased towards LEGO Movie, since....LEGO! But, I'm pretty sure I evaluated the overall film from the perspective of a movie-goer, and not a LEGO fanatic. Therefore, I feel comparing Angry Birds to The LEGO Movie is quite the stretch. But, I'll let you decide that for yourselves.

I remember watching the first Chipmunks film in 2009 - it wasn't bad, it wasn't horrible, the acting was typical Hollywood talent. But after watching The Chipmunk Adventure, I got a completely different feeling. I guess you can say it's a mixture of nostalgia and lots of enjoyment in general. There was not a moment of the 2D film that didn't make me smile in one way or another. Every scene was necessary to the story, as well as for providing plenty of cheesy but super cute and nostalgic entertainment.
I'm trying to find that with modern movies...I kinda felt it with Frozen, Brave, and Big Hero 6...But I don't think they met the same expectations as The Chipmunk Adventure. Not that they're bad movies, I did love watching them, and was impressed by the presentation. But the 2D Chipmunk film provided me an experience I could never get from a Disney movie. It kinda makes me upset that I didn't really grow up with the Chipmunks, besides their Xmas songs, I guess.
As for best Chipmunk, I'm definitely for Jeanette. Tongue

I remember seeing the first live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks movie just once. The only thing I can say, it could've worked but didn't.
Due to Fox's meddling with it turning them into every problem with cartoon to live action adaptations. Including trying to be hip with today's kids.
Good thing, I only saw the first one, as the sequels looked worse with each one. Covering songs with inappropriate dance moves? No thanks.

Ross Bagdasarian Jr is very protective of his father's legacy, and he did have the shits with Fox over their tampering with the film and sequels.
He was also supposed to reprise the roles of the Chipmunks and Dave but Fox wanted fresh faces and Jason Lee, of all actors, for Dave.
David Cross, who played the bad guy, even regrets being in them. Especially the third due to being in a pelican suit throughout the movie.

Its lucky Fox isn't involved with the new CGI show. But to be honest, the CG looks very dated and falls into the uncanny valley.
Another sad thing is the lack of any official home video release of the 1980s TV series due to licensing issues with the music.
Yeah, the same problem The Wonder Years had before it finally did get released.

Meh, some of the older musical numbers have some interesting "movements" xP
But I see where you're coming from. Modern CGI Chipmunks don't quite give off that innocent and playful visual style that the 2D cartoons did. It's about being hip and sexy more than anything.

I have one favorite since I saw it two years ago: Cloud Atlas.
The movie got alot of negative critic, but I just disagree with all of.
(We can only agree to disagree)

The movie is not really logically put together, but it's worth the while.
.. think im gonna watch it again rn!

Other than that, I have watched some anime. Genre: Psycho/horror/philosophical.

If you like my genre check out: Kara no Kyokai!

Kiki's Delivery Service in cinema as a birthday present. It's really weird being that in front of a massive screen and having no idea what you're about to watch.

watched deadpool with mom & dad. while the dark comedy was a bit over-the-top (sexual puns heard in every minute of the film as well as human guts flying everywhere), i liked the story.

whoop. just got out of TMNT Out of the Shadows. It's everything the first movie should've been.

Oh, it's kinda dumbed down for younger audiences but has like WAY too many jokes for older fans (there's...a giant Dating Game reference, wtf) and Bebop and Rocksteady literally make the film.
You know how Heath Ledger basically made the Dark Knight amazing, because of his superb acting? Yeah they COMPLETELY kill it but instead of spooky, it's goofy onscreen bromance. It's like they took the characters from the TV show and made them absolutely dopey-great.

If you're thinking of seeing it, just go see it. It's a great turn-your-brain-off, bassy-explosions popcorn summer film. If you're a fan of the Turtles (i'm talkin to you, dolphman) you're going to LOVE it. If you're a more casual Turtles fan, you might find yourself a little lost but if you've watched a little of the 1980's cartoon you should have a decent grasp of why things are this or why this guy says that etc. etc. The easter eggs are aimed at more casual fans ("I liked the Turtles as a kid") Very few comic book series references, if at all. I don't think there...were

And if you wanna wait till it's out on Blu-ray...uh,
fine, u dweeb but im tellin u bebop and rocksteady lookin REAL good in CGI

spoilers: there are no post-credit scenes. don't bother staying

spoiler 2: its not a michael bay production without a fart joke. theres a fart joke but it actually made me laugh. oops

What defines a "movie" for you guys?

Is it about length? Or is it about the stand-alone nature of the film? Would a five-minute short film be considered a "movie" if it isn't part of a series?

A movie is a stand-alone feature that introduces and carries out a plot that comes to a full or partial conclusion by the end. I find that length has little to do with it as long as that's accomplished.
