Yes, they are all NES colors, but one.

THe last one in the smash ball, (Far left, very bottom), has the same saturation and brightness as the others, but a custom hue. Super Mario Bros didnt have a purple/red to blend right, (the rest came from SMB), so that one is custom.

Also, is there a number limit of colors that can be used in an animated sprite? (Or a specific number limit of frames?)

3 plus transparency per frame unless it's layered. Same as every other.

Are there a limited number of frames?

Also, i kinda said that confusing.

For the entire animation, how many colors can i use?

Like if i could only use three colors, id have red in the first frame, blue in the second, green in the third.

But out of the entire sheet, can i have more than that? (say, 5 frames, with a different color each?)

Edit:

Seriously Ti, did you even read the topic?

I'm no expert on NES style so I could be wrong
please don't attack me if I am

but, to my understanding

each frame can have 3 colors plus transparency

frame one can have 3 blue colors
and frame 2 can have 3 red colors and they can still be in the same animation

but there is no color limit imposed on the animation itself, since all it is is different frames displaying one after another

that being said, I don't think there is a limit to the number of frames, either since all an animation is is different frames in a sequence.

edit- look at mario's invincible sprite
there are like 5 different palettes it cycles through, but they're all the same animation

Okay, thanks.

Heres another question.

Do you think i should shade the smash ball?

Or is it fine how it is?

I dont know if i could shade it, but i could make more frames to give it a better color transition, instead of just glowing like that.

couldn't hurt to try; considering you still have one empty color

hmm i wonder what you could use as assist trophies in a SMASH BROS game with SMASH BROS characters instead of non-SMASH BROS themed assist trophies

hmm...

thats how the nes works. i'd suggest to read it, and ask if that causes any doubts(even when i'm sure you have no idea on whats going on*)
