Completely agree although I still like Chip and though he did take away Tails' best friend role as for him being a sidekick replacement, we have to remember that characters have developed. Tails used to follow him endlessly yet in SA/SA2 they had him have monologues where he shows us that he has grown up and he needs to start doing things for his own, basically removing himself away from Sonic's side kick and into more of a best friend. Yet after this everything completely blows up... Sonic Heroes.
Tails and Knuckles were ruined in that game, Tails turned about 3 and became Sonic's sidekick again, Knuckles too, considering Knuckles portrayal in SA was a loner who only got involved when needed to have him happily running loops with Sonic to stop Eggman made no sense. This is what I hate about the game, the teams didn't work because they went against things from previous games, and even though they were teams supposedly sharing the mission equally everything was based more towards Sonic, which yes its his game but don't make them out to be a team when the cutscenes focus more on Sonic.
