After what had happened recently, I've decided to re-rip some of the sheets above along with SMB and Eggerland so they wouldn't be based on alternative palettes.

Some of the current sheets the way they are should still be acceptable for submitting onto the site. I plan to do both the background and block sprites of Arkanoid (NES), Arkanoid II (NES) (partially done, need to do "Brick Shine" and Regenerator Brick Respawn animations)

While on the subject of Arkanoid, I should just mention the following: The section icon used for the arcade version of "Arkanoid" shows a screen of Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh, rather than the original game. I could probably pull out the icon designer and create a replacement icon.

EDIT: Here's the altered section icon, which I created based on a run through the game's many "glitch levels" that can only be accessed via hacking. I replaced some of the gaps that were filled with "garbage blocks": blocks with palettes never seen in the main game, with the main blocks.

I do have a rip of the original arcade Arkanoid; however pretty much everything except the backgrounds and remaining outer barricade tiles were taken from a Japanese site (it can be found on the bottom) that has a section devoted to making sprite-sheet wallpaper based on arcade games, mainly those from Namco, since that's what the site is based around, but it has sections for other companies. This is why I haven't uploaded the sheet, but I may be able to place copyright info on the sheet itself.

The original person behind the Arkanoid: Doh it Again rips also did other sprites for the game, viewable here. but is missing the alternate palettes for the five main backgrounds and the second and third boss backgrounds. I went ahead and finished up the background rips...

And also created a sheet for Arkanoid II's NES port. I didn't get the metallic block shine in like I said I would, but hopefully it's useful enough in it's current state.

Apologies for the double-post, but I'm back with the Eggerland rips.

What's the story with Eggerland? A bunch of stages from each game were taken and used to make the US version of the first Lolo?

Yes. If you play enough of the Famicom-only Eggerland games, you can find some rooms that also appeared in Adventures of Lolo, mainly the second room of Revival of Labrynth, and one of the early rooms of Departure to Creation.

REVIVAL! Eggerland also uses rooms found in previous games, like Floor 2-5 of Lolo 1 (from what I remember).

May I ask why there's a blue Snakey, red and blue Skull, white Gol and blue Leeper? I really don't recall seeing those anywhere in the game (if you've answered this before, sorry I don't remember).
Also, are Meikyuu no Fukkatsu and those other Eggerland games you mentioned have all the same graphics (I know Souzou e no Tabidachi does for the most part)...? Because I'd keep this game in its own section if they don't.

It's alright, I consider myself a very talkative person.

In the original FDS Eggerland, the entire HUD uses the same colors that Lolo does, so whenever a level contains a "secret", the object in question is always represented with the same red/blue palette. The earliest one in the game, Room 1-4, is shown below, with a Skull displayed as a hint.

This error would be fixed in Meikyuu no Fukkatsu, as all objects will display their proper colors in the hint icon.

Below is a comparison of the first screens for Eggerland FDS, Meikyuu no Fukkatsu, and Souzou e no Tabidachi.
All the main objects remain unedited throughout all three games, though the walls of each room do change from FDS to Fukkatsu, as well as Lolo's "shocked" appearance the instant he is killed being added as part of the death animation, and additional objects added in like the Bell that rings in any room that contains entry to a God/Guardian's chamber, and the four King Egger tablets needed to access the final rooms of the game. Major differences between the games would be based on the cutscenes, so if we do plan on ripping everything accross all three games, that would require me to design new icons (as the current one is of a level made in Tabidachi, but the same sheet would appear in the pages for each Eggerland game, similarly to how a good number of Mega Man sheets are handled, since all the NES games share graphics between one another.

Okay, I guess we'll need three icons from the game then, and I can place the sheet under all three games.

And since you're ripping Arkanoid, have you considered ripping DOH himself?

Sounds like a plan! Smile

*Had to shorten the titles of Meikyuu no Fukkatsu and Souzou e no Tabidachi on the icons, as they don't fit.
*King Egger does not appear in Souzou e no Tabidachi, as the ending is just Lolo giving a peace sign on a blank background with text.

The japanese site I linked to a few posts back has the first and last frames of Doh's movement animation, but none of them in between, nor Doh's death animation. I'll consider getting them done (since I might as well finish the job)

(To everyone; I made a Mario sheet, since the current one is missing a lot of frames, Below it is the sheet icon for my Arkanoid: Doh it Again background rips)

Thanks for uploading the sheets. Smile

Quite a number, of them. Some I haven't gotten to making icons for the game and/or the sheet(s), so here are the ones I got everything ready for.

You may want to refer to the first post of this topic's Page 2 for Arkanoid: DOH it Again backgrounds.

I think Ryan already ripped Kid Kool.

Anyway, nice rips. Seems like you really enjoy these block games Wink

After a quick check, you are correct. I guess we could just use my icons (for both the game and sheet) with Ryan's sheet, since his rip contains every sprite, Wicky included, and the Japanese version's sprite, while mine is just for Kid solo without Wicky or the Japanese Kid.

Fun fact: In a tool-assisted run, I beat Kid Kool with 30 minutes of game time, and got the best ending.

Yeah, I'm quite a big fan of breakout games, since I dream to create the ideal Breakout/Arkanoid clone in the future, with a sister version based on creating and sharing levels and level sets based on a large variety of Breakout games (since 90% of these lack editors that are available from the start). I'm currently working on a new sheet for the main version, since the current "custom" edition has (after some thought and feedback) too many block colors; way more than one should need. Once I finalize it, I'll post it on my custom sheet thread. Big Grin

PHEW!!!! Everything is up now and Lolo is updated. BTW I wanna know what this icon here

is for. Did I miss anything that was ready to go up?

Also, justin, don't worry about anything, you're doing great. Way better than a lot of new submitters who join and post crappy sheets. Wink

Thank you very much for uploading the sheets, and pleased to hear. Guess it helps making your sheets months in advance. Genki ^_^

I have more sprite projects to submit, but I don't have all the icons ready for them at this moment. Once I get them set up, I'll post everything onto the forums.

That icon goes for an Arkanoid: DOH it again background rip, which can be found below:

The last thing I want to bring up; while watching a TAS of Eggerland, in a room where Lolo drinks a magic potion to gain invincibility for the rest of the room, Lolo alternates through all four possible color palettes. When I found this, I ended up updating the Eggerland sheet a second time.
This time it's only palette additions, so updating the current submitted sheet is not mandatory, since one can just modify Lolo's colors to make an invincibility/flashing animation.
