But the esence of the Ice Climbers is a stage with a scroll, I think. (The representation of they're climbing the mountain) Or do you think that The Summit only in the summit or in the sea are a good stage? Or Icicle Mountain without scroll?

If this is slowly, like in Mushroomy Kingdom, is perfect =S We need all kinds of stages (Scroll stages, no scroll stages, gigant stages, tiny stages, normal stages...)

RE: New stages - GrooveMan.exe - 11-21-2009

Pokéfloats is a bit different, since it's not so much scrolling as the stage constantly moving while the camera stays in the same place. I hate scrolling stages mostly because they're easy to get accidentally trapped in causing cheap deaths. On some of the busier ones, seeing where you are is a fair bit harder; even when up against shit like Pokémon Stadium which is pretty flashy with the pyrotechnics.

Aside from that, have fun coding a scrolling stage that will happily respond to character collision detection at all times without getting lodged in something.

A scrolly background like Halberd or Delfino Plaza?

RE: New stages - rukifellth - 11-21-2009

Personally, I like the scrolling stages. Because they forces an inovative new way of thinking on how to win. And thoce stages can be very scenical and eventfull. Smile

RE: New stages - JoseFran - 11-21-2009

Well, I've made a non-scrolling stage for the Ice Climbers. I called it 'Icicle Cliff'

Theory situation: http://i48.tinypic.com/e12s1j.jpg

I don't explain the stage because the stage explains all.

Hey guys, the Ice Climbers are in expedition! xD

RE: New stages - Koopaul - 11-21-2009

Eliminate the cave. People don't like caged in stages.

RE: New stages - Wes - 11-21-2009

Wait, is the left edge off the cave a walk-off edge?

RE: New stages - JoseFran - 11-21-2009

Yes, is... supposely? the other exit of the cave.

I try to do a estructure similar as Spear Pillar's cave.

Edit: The clouds does the same as in The Summit

RE: New stages - Angelglory - 11-21-2009

That actually does look like a fun stage, just as long as the cave is big enough that it isn't crowded.

Also, for the Sin & Punishment stage I suggested before, Shinjuku Rooftop, to reduce the number of stages that have hazards, Radan and Kachua could just pop up in the background for a bit instead of appearing and attacking.

Those are different types of scrolling stages, as most of the "scrolling" happens just in the background, though it does somewhat affect the battle area.

RE: New stages - Koopaul - 11-21-2009

Those are not scrolling stages, as the stage does not scroll but the background does.

Delfino Plaza is a transforming stage as the platform you're on changes depending on where you land.

From what I can determine Big stages never scroll or transform.

I was playing Sonic Riders the other day and I thought, why not make Company Themed stages like the the two stages in Sonic Riders?
For example a SEGA stage it could be a city, at night, with giant skyscrapers, and TV Monitors like the ones you would see in New York. (Just a thought.) Also it would have the SEGA Emblem inside the giant monitor, it would change from SEGA, to the Sonic Emblem, to another one such as Crazy Taxi, VectorMan, Ristar, and others. Also you could see some SEGA Characters in the background like Toe Jam and Earl, or Ristar and such. It would all be portrayed in a big city at night.

Company Stages would be:
Nintendo, SEGA, Capcom, and others. (Also a Spriter's Resource Stage maybe)

RE: New stages - SiFi270 - 11-26-2009

RAINBOW. FRIGGIN'. ROAD.

Don't take this as an offense, but this is a pretty silly idea IMO. I don't know why would that make a cool stage other than the cameos for fangasm. And we could put these in the normal stages with no problem at all >:

Certainly Raimbow Road is the better for represent Mario Kart series, BUT it's too difficult create it like an stage, because there aren't ideas for this. A stage similar to Mute City?
