RE: Lego War - Chris2Balls [:B] - 01-31-2009

That's cool considering the limitations of the program. I suggest you stick two megaphones together to make a sub-machine gun.

RE: Lego War - turgilator - 01-31-2009

Well actually... in a possible future release I'll have a machine gun add-on. Anyway... the Armory is now done. Armory's are the least costly, and quickest-to-build buildings in the game. Though with that, they don't stand through a lot of attacks.

RE: Lego War - Chris2Balls [:B] - 02-01-2009

That's my fave.
All I can say is that you should make it a bit taller and make the window Legoman head-high. Make the room a bit bigger and stick weapons inside, then that would look great.

RE: Lego War - Vipershark - 02-02-2009

oh, hey colton didn't you get banned

I was pleasantly surprised by this and if you don't keep working on it I'll hate you even more

anyway though

1. units are annoying to select. Make it so that anywhere you click on a unit it will be selscted. It seems like just the torso works.
2. Obviously, better graphics please
3. what is the point of the armory just make it so the barracks can spawn soldiers and workers like an actual rts
4. Make the title screen actually say press enter to play
5. put a window on the hospital :/

uh
I'll think of more

RE: Lego War - turgilator - 02-02-2009

Yeah... Dex found out that I was 'great' (the account name), which was a bit obvious, but he let me stay. Though I had requested that account be deleted as I keep the Turgilator account sooooo

1. Will fix. Should be pretty easy, just a little more coding due to the masks (collision detecting things...) of the Lego Guys.
2. Yeah, pre-rendering 3D graphics so yeah.
3. Can do... lol sorry about that.
4. Still working on the menu actually due to the fact there is actually more than 1 map, and other stuff along those lines...
5. Why?

And now that that's over...

RE: Lego War - Vipershark - 02-02-2009

guess I'll go and do my usual gameplay video for this

RE: Lego War - turgilator - 02-02-2009

Okay. Also some more things...
First off, I'm planning to make more jobs for the lego guys sometime besides just gunman and worker. But... I've already got more attack units in the works. The vehicles factory will obviously, manufacture war vehicles. I have three ready so far, and the factory design as well, so take a look.
The Vehicles Factory. Name is pretty self explanitory... but be warned, as it costs 750 legos just to build this, and it takes up quite of bit of space too. Also... it takes long to build as well. Though that may have been obvious.
The Banshee. Just a basic vehicle with a pretty basic design... it can shoot (semi-weak) lasers with the two prongs in the front. They aren't efficient attack wise... but they are great in the speed department, and can actually carry 2 men at a time.
This is the Warbike. A bike with a tire for steering in the front, and a hover pad replaces the accelerating wheel in the back. These are the fastest vehicles the Factory will be able to make. They have 2 guns similar to that of your basic Lego Guy, so pretty much they do only twice the damage. Also, unlike the Banshee, they can only carry one unit at a time. But as said, they are great speed wise, so they may be particularly useful for hit & run attacks.
Heh... names still pending on this one. Someone can suggest something. Anyway, these stand nearly as tall as the factory itself, and with rotating machine guns, offers the same amount of damage as your average gun, but with a reload speed so much better. These things aren't as fast as the two vehicles above due to its size obviously, and also are pretty expensive and time consuming to build. Though if somehow, you get a lot of these in before an attack... there'll be hell to pay for anyone who dares to touch you.

So yeah, that's introducing NEW things you'll see in the next release. Ideas for Lego Guy jobs or units, tell me.

RE: Lego War - Vipershark - 02-03-2009

oh yeah I forgot
those huge squares when you want to build things
MAKE THEM CLICKABLE

I kept raging whenever I tried to click it and accidentally clicked another building
took me a sec to realize that I needed to use the keyboard

so uh
IDEAS

Demolition Soldier: Carries a Bazooka
Effective against vehicles and buildings, bad against soldiers

Mutilator: Carries an Elephant Gun
Extreme power against soldiers, decent against light vehicles, but pretty much ineffective against heavy armor or buildings

Jetpack Soldier: Can fly around and shoot things from above
uses a machine gun so has same attack power as a regular soldier but much harder to hit since he's up in the air
tanks can't hit it

Riot Soldier: Carries a large riot shield
Same attack power as a regular soldier, but much better defense

Shock Trooper: Has a gun that shoots electricity
Insane power against robots, good against humans, terrible against vehicles and buildings

Flame Trooper: Carries a flame thrower
Insane power against humans, terrible against robots, decent against buildings and vehicles

Poison trooper: Shoots poison gas
Insane against humans that aren't poison troopers, doesn't hurt robots, buildings, vehicles, or enemy poison troopers at all

STVery Sad Suicide Terror Drone
basically a kamikaze robot
dies when it explodes
can 1 hit large groups and take huge chunks of HP out of heavily armored stuff like buildings
easily killed with electricity weapons
explodes when killed whether detonated or not, so make sure you take it out with ranged weapons

AIDS: Airborne Interception Drone System
basically, a cruise missile
great against buildings and heavy armor

Elephant Tank
4 barrels, 4 times the destruction
extremely slow, but insane armor and power

Carpet Bomb: self explanitory
need to take out everything in an area? A carpet bomb spreads out over a wide radius and damages everything in the area

RE: Lego War - turgilator - 02-03-2009

Oh, you mean those construction site things. Yeah, sometimes I accidentally place them wrong and get pissed. I already fixed that in this upcoming release though, as well as the GFX, and the Armory exclusion. Also, gonna make it so workers can't enter the bunkers because that kinda pisses me off as well. Also there are no guns inside the bunker sooooooooo...
Thanks for that huge list of ideas Viper. I'll probably get around to adding most/all of those... hopefully.
Now... modifications to your ideas and such along that line.

Demolition Soldier could... not be able to attack targets up close, due to the fact that that's pretty dangerous. Also on that, will cause splash damage as well. Kinda minor, only 5 HP... but still.
That Jetpack Soldier, the vehicles won't be able to shoot as their guns can't point upwards/downwards.
So those poison troopers, im assuming wear a gas mask then.
Loving that Kamikaze bot idea. But that explosion from it will end up hurting even the owners units, so it wouldn't be advised to use it near your people and stuff.
Should I have a special building build those explosives and stuff?
And uh Tank, I'll work on a preview for right now.

Thanks for the ideas man.

RE: Lego War - Vipershark - 02-04-2009

yeah, the poison troopers have gas masks

jetpack troopers are weak to electricticy, so shock troopers work well against them
otherwise, the only things that can hit them are regular soldiers

NEW STUFF

Jolt Tower
a 1x1 building that shoots electricity at any enemy units within 3 squares of it
good against humans, great against robots (especially good for when your opponent spams you with STDs)
nearly no effect on vehicles
great against jetpack troopers

Sentry Gun
a 1x1 building that automatically shoots enemy units within 3 squares
good against humans, good against robots, good against light vehicles, decent against heavy armor

Neural Hacker
A 4x4 building with a large blue globe on top filled with electricity
requires time to charge after building (about 3 minutes or so)
gives you complete control over any enemy units in range of its attack (maybe about 5 squares around it)
(enemy units turn your color, whether effect is permanent or not is up to you)

Sattelite Launcher
Allows you to view unexplored areas within range of where you click, like in Command and Conquer

Anti-Air Sentries
Attacks air units within 5 squares of range
the perfect defense against jetpack troopers, so make sure you destroy any AA Guns nearby first if you have them flying around
can't attack ground units

Saboteur
your basic spy
looks like an enemy soldier, so enemies won't attack it unless alerted by one of their own saboteurs
only saboteurs can identify/see enemy saboteurs
can enter enemy buildings and attack them from the inside
can't be controlled by neural hacks unless exposed first by an enemy saboteur

Eagle
Attack copter, can hit ground units and other copters, but not jets
fires machine guns at humans, and missiles at vehicles and robots (like in advance wars)

Hawk
Attack Jet, drops bombs on ground units and buildings
fires missiles at other air units

more later

RE: Lego War - turgilator - 02-04-2009

TOO MANY IDEAS kifahdkjgh
ok You won't see those in this upcoming release, but rather the one afterwards. You won't actually see ANY new units in the next release soooo... yeah. I'm getting some previews and shit done for your ideas Viper... and here's what I got so far.
[Image: lddscreenshot9hk6.th.png]STD
[Image: lddscreenshot10ue6.th.png]Roit Soldier
Still working on the others as well as your new ones, so please hold. Also, the old gunman will now be the Demolition Soldier, because that gun looks more bazooka-like. So this is the NEW gunman.

RE: Lego War - turgilator - 02-04-2009

Oh hey look. The update thing. Now to add the other units and shit. This update features:
-Improved AI (now expands upon the bases they just destroyed, will attack units at their base, etc.)
-Improved, 3D rendered graphics
-Barracks now assigns jobs so the Armory was taken out
-Building sites can be taken back if owned by you
-Units are easier to select

RE: Lego War - Vipershark - 02-05-2009

okay so I played the new version and it's much better

Things I noticed:
When selecting your color on the main menu, the bricks behind the lego guy are barely visible, especially when selecting dark colors. Make them be the actual color you pick so that they're easier to see.

okay you still did the barracks wrong
don't make it so that you have to select which job you want it to build
that's too much work and takes too much time, especially if your base is getting flooded
make it like an actual rts and make a soldier button, a worker button, etc that builds the unit you select, and not a guy with the job you select
get it?

why is there still command and conquer dirt textures
just use your grass texture but make it brown

Suggestions:
redo the buildings so that they're mostly one color, such as grey, as the primary color but has your team's color as a secondary color
Example:
See those supply depots on the right side? do your buildings like that where they look the same but still have team colors on it
it sorta hurts your eyes to have your color popping out at you, especially if you're red or something.

okay so while I was at school I came up with a LOT more ideas
here we go

Hovertank: Ground Unit
Speed: Fast
Armor: Low
Firepower: Low, but still a tank so more than a bazooka
Special Abilities: Can move over water, unlike regular vehicles
Description: Basically, a recon tank. It's fast and can escape in a pinch, but still has a little firepower behind it. Relatively cheap, but more expensive than a regular recon jeep because it hovers.

Wasp: Air Unit
Speed: Fast
Armor: Low
Firepower: Medium. Weak machineguns against ground units, but strong Anti Air missles.
Special Abilities: None?
Description: I pretty much imagined it to look like the Wraith from Starcraft.

Battle Carrier: Air Unit
Speed: Slow
Armor: Extreme
Firepower: Medium. Drops bombs on ground units, but no air firepower.
Special Abilities: Can deploy Mosquitoes.
Description: It works similarly to the Protoss carriers from Starcraft except it can also drop bombs.

Mosquito: Air Unit
Speed: Extremely Fast
Armor: Barely there.
Firepower: Low. Has machine guns that can hit ground or air units.
Special Abilities: None?
Description: Spam these, and you'll do some crazy damage. Their firepower and armor is awful, but if you get a lot of them in one place and rebuilding ones that get destroyed, they'll be insanely powerful.

Vulture: Air Unit
Speed: Medium
Armor: High
Firepower: High. Can attach ground units with lasers and air units with missiles.
Special Abilities: Can charge a giant laser that does heavy damage to ground units that are hit by it.
Description: Works like the Battlecruiser from Starcraft.

Humvee: Ground Unit
Speed: Fast
Armor: Low
Firepower: Low
Special Abilities: Can hold 4 soldiers.
Description: Your basic recon jeep. Quick, high sight range, low armor and firepower.

Specter: Soldier
Speed: Fast
Armor: Low
Firepower: High, but slow.
Special Abilities: None?
Description: Your sniper soldier. Extreme range with high firepower against soldiers. They move fast, but reload times are slow. Keep them far away from the enemy because they can be easily killed.

Transcopter: Air Unit
Speed: Fast
Armor: Medium.
Firepower: Low.
Special Abilities: Can hold 8 soldiers.
Description: It's like the T-Copter from advance wars but can actually attack.

Pelican: Air Unit
Speed: Slow
Armor: Medium
Firepower: Extreme.
Special Abilities: None?
Description: A giant airship that drops huge bombs that do extreme damage. It's extremely slow though, so make sure it's well protected.

Nuclear Silo: Building
Speed: None
Armor: Normal
Firepower: Crazy
Special Abilities: None?
Description: Fires a nuke to the location of your choice. Takes a few minutes to be armed. The nuke's blast does insane damage to anything in a 12 square radius.

Turtle: Ground Unit
Speed: Medium
Armor: High
Firepower: Low
Special Abilities: Can hold 8 soldiers.
Description: Your basic APC.

Big Boy: Ground Unit
Speed: Medium
Armor: Low
Firepower: Crazy
Special Abilities: None?
Description: Basically the grown-up version of the STD. Instead of a walking robot though, this is a truck with a GIGANTIC bomb on the back. It works just like the STD, so when its health gets low, it's time to clear out. When the bomb goes off, it does crazy damage to anything in a 5 square radius.

oh and send me the midis that you're using please thanks

also I'm making my video right now it'll be up soon

RE: Lego War - turgilator - 02-05-2009

Uh... okay. Though about the Barracks, I don't think I can do that. Sorry :c
But basing your units a lot on that of Starcraft is a bit... uncreative. No offense.

But hey you should get on Battle.net and we could play because I found my Starcraft CD a couple months ago. I'd be known as elbo_noodel on there, and I mainly use Protoss, in some instances, Terran. I rarely use Zerg due to the gay 'make buildings out of ourselves' thing.

RE: Lego War - Chris2Balls [:B] - 02-05-2009

Your new gunman's gun is the wrong way round imo.
Vipershark: supplying loads of good ideas+ critics, but... isn't it just too much and too complicated (for now, anyway)?

Oh, and liking the vehicles etc!
