From sketch to sprite
#1
Video
(I'm new. so... Um... Hi?)

I'm not exactly new to spriting, but I've mostly done work with edits. I've been going through a possess to help me make better customs, which involves me scanning rough sketches, then editing them into sprites.

Here are some examples.

I'm not really liking the Phantom Ganon, it's body seems a bit small in proportion to it's head.

I'm really digging the Deoxys and the other guy on the bottom.

On Phantom, the head is too skinny at the base (where it connects to the body), and the body itself is too smal in comparison to the head. The other ones look awesome so far.

Thanks for the feedback! Phantom Ganon was my first attempt at this, so I'm not surprised the proportions are off. I might take a shot at a remake later.

Also, here's the continuation of the Deoxys sprite (in the middle of shading and detailing). I also added color variants.

Left arms on deoxys have different proportions all over them. Make their width consistent.

Do you plan on shading it?

tbqh the rough sketch of deoxys looked much better
if you clean up the lines a bit while maintaining the rough look and keep the eyes black, it'd look really cool

Why doesn't Phantom Gannon's right foot (our left) have a boot on it? Or is that how he is?

If so, that's really weird of Nintendo to do. xD

I need Genesis sprites ripped for this Homebrew project. If interested in helping me out, please hit me up on the PM. Cool

Yeah don't use the line tool when making your lineart either.
