I find it strange that there's about 3 or 4 different games called Bonk's Adventure even though they are either a bit different (the NES and the Amiga versions use different sprites and some changes compared to the original TurboGrafx-16 version) or completely different like this one and the GB one.

A small article on Bonk series. I hope you find inspiriting

Believe it or not, had a quick look at that article in the past but thanks anyway Ulti. It's just that the TurboGrafx games are quite hard to rip where the games are compressed and a savestate only stores so much (plus Mednafen, the only TG/PCE emulator with a sprite viewer has the black background syndrome + blurs/enlarges making it unusable), someone has already done rips of NES Bonk's Adventure and Super Bonk but if I have motivation in the future, might consider ripping more of the series.

I feel old despite this game was originally made before I was born (and this remake was before some people were even born). At least its pick up and play.

This post is a bit split but the forum is a bit dodgy, anyway added:

Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf (Genesis)
Misc
[Image: JOpRe.png][Image: Ifaqn.png]

Originally just for the Fantasy Zone minigame, I decided to rip the golfer too. Oh and a note, I believe that there might be a couple of unused poses for the golfer however they are compressed (not with Nemesis compression though, I checked that and that's how I got the little golfer) and not loaded in the game at all. For what I know, they might be the caddies, it's really hard to tell.

Right, I feel like ripping the enemies and bosses for Shadow of the Beast (Genesis) but which version do you want me to rip? The US/European version or the improved graphics of the Japanese version? It's just that it's a hard game to play, torture if done twice.

Oh and there are a few sheets that aren't on the site:

For some reason, tSR was skipping posts so I didn't get a chance to reply to these posts until now (thanks to the preview page displaying them):

Tonberry2K Wrote:And just out of curiosity, have you ever played/heard of a Genesis game called Sub Terrania?

Believe it or not, I actually played the game as an off chance (its still hard but not as hard as they make it out to believe, just takes a lot of practise and can get as far as Stage 3). I looked at the ROM and while it is rippable, it is stored a bit funny. In fact I might rip it time given, after all there are only 10 stages in the game.

Magma Dragoon Wrote:You're ripping from Turbografx CD? How?

For the CD games, the latest version of yy-chr would do nicely but not every game is supported due to supporting a different video mode or they are compressed plus you have to manually recolour the palette yourself. Double Dragon II comes with its own sprite viewer with a code that you put in the title screen luckily. The CD games from experience seem to be a bit easier to rip than the HuCard games (as explained before).

Improved graphics are always better, my vote for the Japanese version.

I met up with the guys behind the studio who developed Shadow of the Beast. I think it's your call, but I know that they were proud of the game. They also developed Driver, FYI Wink

You should do both versions of the game, but how much of an improvement is the Japanese one?
Doofenshmirtz: This is a little bit awkward but have you seen my escape jet keys? (Perry nods) What, you have? Well that's great! So where are they? (Perry looks away) You won't tell me? Is this because you don't speak or are you just being a jerk?

I've tried using yy-chr, but for what I wanted it showed the sprites cut-out in some parts. The only thing I wanted to rip was the Gradius II exclusive boss (the one from the exclusive desert stage).

The reason why both the US/EU and the Japanese versions aren't ripped on the same sheet cause it would end up being a very large sheet (I'll probably end up doing the US/EU version at a later date due to being a harder version, no promises). As for the differences, some enemies were redraw entirely such as the fly and the bat, some added extra details like the skeleton boss having blood and some were very subtle changes (such as the gargoyle that you hit to get a super punch, the palette was altered and three pixels were changed not noticable without looking closely).

Also the Japanese sprites were used in the PC Engine CD/TurboGrafx CD versions as well.

Awesome! I remember Sub-Terrania being really hard. Of course, I was like 11, so that may have been a factor.

I know what you might be thinking, why replace a good sheet and rip from a famous game that chances are also done elsewhere completely? Well, the sheet on tSR is missing the Peach jump sprite (in the ROM is with some other sprites for some reason), the prototype sprites (to be fair, the sheet was ripped before the prototype was dumped) and the alt palettes.

The only things missing now are the Sleeping Mario at the end and couple of other things that isn't on the big sheet on the site before you can say that the game is completely ripped.

Oh, this is awesome.

The reason why it isn't named Ending is because on the large Enemies and Objects sheet by Drshnaps, it has the cast and the part where the Subcon people are carrying Wart. Looking at the cosy bed makes me feel sleepy...
