hqnx, super 2xSaI, etc...
#1
I had a sudden urge to scale up many (many many) game sprites. Naturally, those bicubic / bilinear filters are crap for upscaling sprites, and I want something better than nearest neighbour. I remembered several filters which should be familiar to you all : eagle, 2xsai, hq2x, etc... Those filters have all been implemented in most emulators, and give good results with pixel art style sprites. But what about standalone tools/plugins? Small executables are fine too. And handy to process any image.

So i searched over the web, only to find a scale2x tool. Well... it is ok, but not quite the most efficient. Other websites were either down (super 2xSai), or suspended (hqnx). And it seems they were up not long ago too... Damn it.

I'm mostly interested in hq2x and hq3x, and the said filter homepage is suspended. Can't get it, although i searched for quite some time. And all site talking about hqnx links to the suspended homepage, or emulators pages. Damn it (again). No standalone exe nor plugins.

"Out of desperation", i came here, thinking that maybe some artists and people here do have those filters downloaded and stored somewhere (it is TSR, afterall). Maybe they would be kind enough to send it to me ... ?

(I would gladly take a 2xsai filter too. I kinda got one uncompiled, but if someone has got one working tool...)

*gasp* this is not a sprite request, it is a spriting tool request, kinda.

Some links for those who dont know what im talking about :

And the suspended/down homepage (silly me, you wont be able to look at it, it's down !)

Thanks to all looking in that case Smile

Look up 'Rotsprite'

Does rotations and scaling to a reasonable capacity, could be within the constraints of what your looking for.
(The scaling filters on SNES emulators are all ugly and terrible, btw)
Specs 'n' Headphones has been revamped! Check it, yo.

Nice. Rotsprite does a good job at rescaling, about the same quality as Scale3x. Its only flaw is it doesn't support png output, it seems. I was searching for a possibly better tool, but maybe i'm setting too high constraints.

Anyway, thanks for introducing me such a handy tool.
