Sonic and... stuff...

Yawackhary Wrote:The main thing is to fix the camera/collision detection/controls which are getting worser each game (fully aware that even Sonic 2 and 3/K had their fair share of problems) plus Sonic doesn't need that booster for every loop that he goes through in the 3D games, one or two is fine but every one?

you've got a point there, like usually, when you're going into a loop, you're going hill at break-neck speed already, there's really no need for those stupid boosts, maybe when you're going at it slowly and it's flat land

Yawackhary Wrote:What happened to the Green Hills/Chemical Plants/Scrap Brains and all the memorable levels from the classics? Okay so Green Hill went around the block a few times but there are many zones that need reviving or based on instead of Santorini zone in Unleashed.

Better level design. I must admit, even though Rush and Rush Adventure were the closest feel to the classics and indeed the only modern Sonic games that I own past Heroes - the main problem was the level design with bottomless pits everywhere and a similar pattern to every level.

by the looks of how the stages looked back then, to me they looked a little too robotic, and maybe even a bit "out-dated", so maybe Sonic had destroyed them and/or restored them to their origanal nature look, I could agree that they renew some of their older stages, but not that often. You'll find that often in Mario games, stages like Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser's Castle, and the Haunted Mansion stages are redone in almost every game.

Yawackhary Wrote:Dr. Robotnik being the boss again - not only that but being the final boss. The boss taking over Robotnik was fine in SA because it was unique but now it is the same over and over again.

Cut the cast - way down. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik is all - maybe Amy for a quick ending scene or something. The main problem with most games are the useless characters being in every game (Cream, Marine and even Shadow) and turning it to the Sonic that I don't know/want to know.

I like the addition of all those characters, but then again, sometimes they're just there and don't really play a big part in the story, you have somewhat of a point, but more characters can mean a bigger story line, maybe in a couple of games it's only the original 4.

Yawackhary Wrote:A game that respects the classic fans which are now dying like fly sprays (aka classic Sonic design [black eye and all], special stages, Chaos Emeralds not being used as plot device unless it is absolutely needed and minimist story which doesn't need cutscenes) but that is pipe dream.

in my own personal opinion, I think the older Sonic looks rediculous, he looked a litle too fat, and a little too kiddish to me, but hey, this is all just my opinion, every single last word of it.

'cept for the quotes, that's your opinion
Geo the Fox Wrote:1. Sonic Pinball Party is a pinball game on the GBA that also has a Chao Garden. The point is that it's not a platformer game, yet it has a fully functional Chao Garden. Therefore, the Chao Garden does not necessarily need platforming. Maybe Sonic, but not platforming. That said, it's really stupid to put that level of emphasis on a moderate-sized add-on to two great Sonic games. It's not like I hate the Chao Garden, of course. It's just not necessary to add on. If Sonic Team keeps focusing on other aspects aside from the main course of Sonic's game play, the franchise will keep spiraling downward. That said, if anything they should prolly make a Wii Ware title that is specifically for Chao Garden and gets add-ons from the other Wii Sonic games. I guess. If only to appease fans like you.

2. I'm no stranger to non-strangers of sarcasm.

3. In my defense, you used the word "you."

4. No, I came to a conclusion that you lack the ability to read. Not how you read. Big difference! >=(

1. I knew Pinball Party had the Chao Garden in it, just never really knew how it worked... Also, I'm just a fan of add-ons, I admit it, I like games for about as much stuff as they can put in it, of course, you can't just say I just like a game for about as much stuff in it, good or bad, I like the game for the game, if it has add-ons, I'll probably have a higher chance of liking the add-ons better than the game...

and I'm gonna try to not take that "fans like me" coment to offence

2. no comment, let's just skip this part from now on

3. I used the word "you" in general, meaning to people in general, not just talking to you specifically

4. this is hard to explain, but i'm gonna try and say this with out losing you or myself for that matter, uh... to know "how" to read, you pretty much need the "ability" to read... idk, it's sounds alot better in my head, I just can't place it into words, understand? Tongue

I hope that Sonic Unleashed doesn't suck.

I really hope.

Because if it does, then Sonic needs to either
a) die, or
b) be traded off to another company that'll actually make better Sonic games. I mean, if result B were to happen and SEGA gave the rights to Sonic to Nintendo, then a platforming Mario and Sonic game wouldn't sound too bad.

I'm praying that this game doesn't flop and Sonic can make a comeback.

I don't really think Sega selling off Sonic to Nintendo is a good idea as people might say it is, I mean, if you look at all the sequel games that Nintendo had made, they kind of have the same stuff over and over again, examples like Mario and Legend of Zelda, yes they're great games, but sometimes, you have to have more than just stomping on enemies or using a whole bunch of items and equipment that you've used before to get past a stage

1. Same as Sonic Advance 1 and 2. Get rings in the main game, they go to the Chao Garden. Then the garden pretty much runs itself. The only difference between that and the Adventure games is that you can give them animal parts or alter their stats with items from the main game. (Though you can alter their stats with the Chao Garden fruits in the advance games, so again... not necessary.)

I didn't mean offense unless you think sharing your interests is offensive?

Honestly, all I want in a 3-D Sonic game is:
1) Speed. The point of Sonic games is how fast you can go through the level while collecting as many rings and bonuses (Chaos Emeralds) as possible. I don't want to end up spending 30 minutes trying to find Hermit Crabs on a beach (Sonic Heroes).

2) Improved hit/collision detection. When I'm rail grinding, I don't want to suddenly fall into oblivion or fall off the ceiling of Special Zone tunnels (Sonic Heroes again...) .

3) Improved camera controls. I want to be able to see where the hell I'm going or where enemy attacks are coming from! (Sonic Heroes...again.)

4) Better VAs. "FROGGIEE WHERE ARE YOUUU???!!!" (All 3-D Sonics.)

5) Cut back on playable characters. Keep it Sonic and Tails. Knuckles at the very most. Everyone else is out unless they're needed as NPCs/enemies/bosses for a game.

6) Improve the game plots. I mean, where the hell did Eggman Nega come from? (Sonic Rush)

I don't remember that in SA2. Plus, Froggy is da bom.

Me neither, but Big was in SA2. After fighting Rouge/Knuckles in Mad Space/Meteor Herd (Dreamcast version only), during the cutscene if you repeatedly press A,B,A,B, Big will run through the background.

In the GCN version you could do that during the scene where Amy talks to Shadow before fighting the Biolizard. But he still did not ask where Froggy is.

Few stages ever repeat in games. Green Hill Zone only did because it was a classic.

Quote:Dr. Robotnik being the boss again - not only that but being the final boss. The boss taking over Robotnik was fine in SA because it was unique but now it is the same over and over again.
Eggman is supposed to be the main boss of Unleashed, though the demonic monstocity seen in video sequences of the game will probably be the final boss.

Unleashes will primarily feature Sonic and his "were-" form. It is said that other characters will be playable for biref portions.

The chaos emeralds have been a key plot element since S&K. Whatever emeralds you don't collect, Eggman usually does.
I do agree that it would be nice to go super anytime (with 50 rings) during any level once you have collected all 7.

A non-canonical pinball game featuring a chao garden doesn't really count.
It was the addition of Chao Gardens that made the Advneture games so great.
I'm not abject to a WiiWare Chao Garden at all; in fact, I really like that idea.

Big may not have asked for Froggy in SA 2, but I was using Big as one example of the constant bad VA across every 3-D game. I'll grant you that some VAs are tolerable and then there are VAs who do characters like Tails and Big. x_XSweatdrop

okay, I admit, Tails is my favourite character, but after SA2, his voice actor just sounded ridiculous

I've been waiting for somebody else to say this. Many of the minor characters (everybody except Sonic) got voice actor changes in post-DC games. It's too abd that Eggman's original voice actor died, because he portrayed Dcotor Robotnik's attitude perfectly.

Above statement is wrong.

Up to Sonic Advance 3/Heroes, Sonic has the same voice actor as the Adventure series then was replaced.
Same with all characters.
Knuckles is the same however had a different voice actor in SA.
Tails had one voice actor for SA - SA2. Had a new one in SH - Sonic Advance 3, and like all others was changed for after that.

No. It does count. It is concise proof that the Chao Garden does NOT require a Sonic platforming game behind it to be great.

Nice opinion.

Yeah, I'm awesome.
