Which custom sheets should be taken down?
Also they may not match anything ON the site, but it may match something outside the site or their own resources

Everyone seems to think we have a limited number of spaces on tSR... We don't...
Tsunami Bomb - The Simple Truth
We could run away
Leave behind anything paper
Not knowing where we're going to stay
When there's no Mondays

You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you

If somebody can find use for it and use it as say, a resource, I see no reason for it to be removed if it's not terrible. I mean, it had to be decent enough to get on the site as is, why get rid of it? Granted, those sheets from years ago when Dazz wasn't in charge don't fall into that idea there, but the rest do.

Maybe somebody's making a Nintendo RPG style game and that Chip is used in menus at a store to buy items. You never know what people can find use for when it comes to customs. I agree that customs should be up to some sort of standard to get on the site, but the standards shouldn't be set so ridiculously high that you only have one sprite sheet of every character and all other's of that same character are bunk. That's not fair to the spriter submitting or to the community that might find use for that sheet.

It's a resource, not a gallery. As Dazz already stated.

You have stated a convincing argument, but that's like saying "Don't throw away that cigar butt, some bum may be able to use it". I guess it depends upon whose point of view you have: the generalized spriter's "someday what I make may be useful", or the generalized programmers "what on Earth would I do with that?" The finals season in my programming class has everyone scouring the web for sprites (I showed them tSR), and almost everybody chose sprites that were bound together by a theme: some chose MLSS, some chose Minish Cap, and some even chose the custom Pokemon World style. Sheets without anything to go with them are largely ignored, no matter how good or bad.

While having a subforum would be more organized than this topic where people seem to post 30 sheets a post and I have to click on every single one to even begin to know what it is, I can also see a subforum for such a thing causing a lot of drama. I mean, just look as this thread already. There have been multiple debates and arguements over what should and should not be accepted. Having it's own forum would just propel those arguements into multiple topics rather than just this one. It could take multiple pages of posts to even make out a clear verdict on whether or not a sheet should stay or be deleted.

I think it should stay how it is, with the people making suggestions in this topic, and the staff having the final say. A subforum would just become more to look at and more angsty.

While lurking some time ago, I thought I saw a thread that was a contest for replacing a sheet on tSR. Maybe instead of clearing out the useless, we make them more useful?

I don't see why we can't accept Sprites without a defined style

NorskSengir's idea is probably the most reasonable solution if you want to make the sprites "better", but getting rid of all of them that aren't in so-and-so style is kinda stupid.

Now, there are some bad sheets on the site, and THOSE are what we should remove. Sheets with only one or two poses, or "assembly" sheets with only four or so possible motions. Like several people have said, this is a resource, not a gallery.
Still thinking of a new name.

Essentially this, although that Mario sheet you liked to is in Tales of the World style, so it does have matching sheets:

But it makes no sense to deny a good sheet just because it isn't in a style similar to something else on the site. A good sheet is a good sheet and shouldn't be declined on the basis that it isn't in M&L or some other style commonly seen on the site. I understand where you're getting at and I can see why people would gravitate towards sheets in matching styles, I mean it makes sense to want things to look similar and match. But I still don't think a good custom sheet that effort has been put into and can be usable should be declined for any reason.

I thought this topic was about taking down exceptionally BAD sheets, not unmatched sheets. If Dazz says space isn't a problem I don't see why bother removing them.

Woah, woah woah. I never said it was a bad sheet, I said the OPPOSITE. It's an example of a GOOD sheet without a pre-defined style.
