I've tried dicking around in sprite files from the available clients and Github resources, which will be linked down below, but turns out that they're encrypted and are also written in freaking Korean, which gives me absolutely nothing to go after. Technically there are still some shady private servers around, but the issue there is that I have little interest in playable sprites, it's bosses and high-level monsters that I'm after (link to gifs to spectate will also be provided), and getting to there is difficult and I'm not even sure avaiable resources can handle MMO games.
I know it's a long shot, but, do some of you by any chance have some lineage sprites lying around? Or perhaps know some korean Gen-Xers, early Millenials from the days it was popular? In my search I came across a Korean Baldurs Gate modder, who of course is no longer active, that managed to extract a few files. Contacting him gave me nothing as he hasn't been active for a few years now. Or maybe, just maybe, some of you are actual encrypting champs or have ways around that bullshit.
The only solution I see as of know is to create an offline server, which is a difficult task because a lot of links with updated servers and connector programs have been lost to the sands of time and no webarchive can remedy that problem. And on top of that, it probably won't work on Windows 10, fortunately there's a windows 7 lying around somewhere at my parent's place, I can probably get it from them. Once I have it established I can use admin rights to summon and stack sprites I want.
The only issue is, there doesn't seem to be an available resource I can use on online sprite-based mmo's. Most sprite rippers I found on resource are related to consoles. Is there nothing to that works on online MMOs? Because if there isn't my only hope left is to record each sprite, turn animations into gifs and then turn those gifs into sprite-sheets which is....time consuming to say the least.
What do you think I should do? Is there something I'm not seeing? Or this is a journey not worth undertaking from?
In any case, I appreciate all tips. I'm new to this as you can probably tell; this will be my first game to rip.
