Looking to rip some models from some games, unsure where to start!
#1
So as mentioned in my welcome thread, I'm interested in models for reference material for creating my own nonsense. However, there's a few games in particular I want to use that haven't been ripped, or at least I can't find them, that I'd like to either see ripped or possibly rip myself.

I'll cut to the chase and list the games I want to either rip myself or get rips of, and why.

Space Siege (by Eidos): I enjoyed this game a lot as a kid, and I loved the Kerak (the nasty aliens). I also want them to use for reference for my own gribbly horrors. I own a copy of the game...albeit with no CD drive to use it with...but in any event, is in my posession. However I know nothing about ripping, yet. So that's one I'd like to rip.

Final Fantasy XIII-2: I no longer own the game but could easily acquire it on Steam. No rips on the site, and I'd love to get access to the large amount of monsters from the game. See above!

Phantom Crash: One of my favourite ever games, and I have a physical copy! Only problem is, even putting aside not having a disc drive (yet) it's not even a PC game. Granted the Xbox was basically a mini-PC but anyway. See above.

Kill la Kill: IF: I have the Steam version, and whilst rips exist, I don't fancy uploading someone else's hard work to the site, and I would like to have them available for fellow rippers. You get the idea.

Anyway. First off, what hardware do I need? Presumably some kind of external disc drive, would a specific type help?
Secondly, any specific software I need?
Thirdly, any good tutorials online for this sort of thing?

Thanks!
