how can I tell which models are rips and which ones are fan made? and if they are rips does this mean they are taken straight from the game? like from actual game play? if anyone could help that would be brilliant, thanks  Smile

Fan made stuff would be in the 'Customs' section. Everything else should be from the original games. I don't do any ripping myself, but from my understanding they go directly into the games' files and get the models and textures from there.

If you would like to know more about ripping, check out some of the ripping tutorials and threads in the forums. Here is the ripping forum for models.

Hope that helps!

Most of the fan made models should be in the Customs section, same thing for sprites. Everything else is a rip. Well nearly everything else, you might get a few fixes that might be customs but the ripper will tell you this and it is very rare. Not every game is well made...

The rips are indeed taken straight from the game. Don't know much about model ripping but sprite ripping could be done either directly from the files using tools (depending on the game this is harder but more likely to get everything) or from actual gameplay using the game itself. It might be a game that you play on PC and need an extra app while you play or using an emulator to play a game. Imagine model ripping is pretty similar.

Hope that should answer your question.
