Hello to everyone

I'm from and reside in Mexico. I work as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language and am in my 30s. I love playing video games, watching anime and binging series. I'm practically new to this website and have zero knowledge about pixel art, ripping, or game building but I'm really excited about it and will try to learn the most I can from the more experienced. I'll be really happy if you could point me in the right direction. I came here from the spriter resource website and thought the rips there were amazing but was wondering how people use them. What's the purpose of them? Can you link me to videos to learn the basics? Thank you all for taking the time to say hi and/or answer my questions. Look forward to being of help to the community.  Big Grin

Welcome!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I use the ripped sheets as reference material for my own sprites. I also just like looking at them. Sometimes I see a cool sheet and it inspires me to check out the game. That said, I usually hang out in the custom section. You can also use the sprites to make rom-hacks, or potentially as temporary art assets to test code.

I haven't ripped anything myself, but there are a bunch of tutorials in this thread.

Hope that helps!
