What's wrong with this sheet?

This Sprigatito sprite sheet was rejected. What can I do to improve it?
I'm using the sheet below as a standard of quality.

What does the rejection message say?

My immediate thought is that the background colors are pretty close to your sprite colors. That makes it pretty difficult to actually use this sheet in a lot of game making engines.

There also isn't much variation between the different sprites. For the attack sprites you may consider having Sprigatito lift up a paw or something before sending out the leaves. As for the hurt sprite, maybe have Sprigatito recoil a bit more? You can try turning Sprigatito's head to show that it has been hit.

The rejection message is just the stock one that led me here.

I tweaked it a little bit

Oh. The rejection messages I've received all had a little list explaining why the sheets where rejected. They did mention to post the sheets here for feedback, but also had more specific feedback like increasing the contrast.

As far as your tweaks go, the background is much better! It'll make your sheet much easier to use and it helps the individual sprites pop out more!

I see that you've updated the attack and hurt animations like I suggested. I do think that you could make them a bit more dynamic, but if you think the sheet is ready, I see no issue with submitting it again.

If you are thinking about making a few adjustments, might I suggest looking over the LCD handheld Digimon sprites like they have on this page? Your sheet gives me some old-school Digimon vibes, so this might be a useful resource.

I think the sheet isn't very readable. The sprites are a bit too small and the face isn't too discernable from the head. The bg color change is nice, and I think it just needs a few tweaks.
l'll take a double triple bossy deluxe, on a raft, four by four animal style, extra shingles with a shimmy and a squeeze, light axle grease, make it cry, burn it, and let it swim.

We serve food here, sir.

I made the legs taller and resubmitted it, I'll update this if it gets accepted

EDIT: It was rejected again.

Honestly I can't tell that is Springatito, I could list some stuff, but I'm not the ones who accept or deny them, so it may or may not be of help.
  •  Weed... May make it seem more like a joke, maybe? Isn't that important neither, so try to remove it.

I doubt the mods care about me adding the Weed Cat joke in, I was able to put a Siivagunner reference in one of my other sheets. Also, I'm not trying to copy a specific style here, I'm trying to make my own.

In regards to what Khyze said, you may want to try and make the sprite a bit larger to better distinguish Springatitio's more unique features. Such as the leaf shaped markings on Springatitio's face, the leaf shaped tuft of fur around the neck, and the leaf shaped tail.

As far as the weed cat thing goes, drug use is illegal in a lot of places, so that may come off as more offensive than a Siivagunner reference. That being said, if it was a problem, the mods would have probably mentioned it in the rejection message. But as Khyze mentioned, it doesn't really add much to the sheet either way.
