Extracting image files from PIC Files
#1
Howdy, all.
So, I currently have a rare obscure title called "The Jar Activity Center" for Windows 98/2000 that I am currently trying to rip the assets from and archive the game's files so that it may be preserved.
However, the manner in which the game stores is assets is, to put it simply....extremely weird.

So, from what I've been able to tell, the game has a number of files with the PIC extension.
No, it is not the QuickTime Photo for Apple PIC extension; rather, its own thing.
From what I've been able to confirm, each file contains a number of what seems to be all PNGs, all zlib compressed. What's worse is that some of these images are truecolor, while others are in monochrome and have a predetermined palette alongside them that must be applied manually.

Since I have no real skill with trying to decompress these things, I was hoping someone here has run across something like this and would happen to have any tools or know-how on hand so that I can get this stuff saved for many years to come.

Not sure if I should provide an image of one of the files's code as an example of the trouble I'm having?
