Dragon Quest Builders Model Ripping
#1
Hello,

I'm trying to locate a model of the Dragonlord from DQ1 in a format usable by my 3D Printer.  I'm not finding one online, so I've been looking into how to rip models out of one of the Builders games (Plus, Builders and Builders 2 would have all sorts of other good stuff inside them).

I started by dumping the Switch version of Builders 1, but I can't figure out how to extract models using Switch Toolbox in a usable format.  From the file tree I can guess which files are the models/skeletons, but they're Phyre Engine files, and like only three games I've heard of run on that engine, so I'm having trouble finding information on doing this.

Next I went to the Steam version of Builders 2, and am about a step behind on that one.  I tried using QuickBMS to break up the LINKDATA.bin file following some instructions on Reddit, but I don't think the script he was using (from the QuickBMS download page, labeled for DQ Heroes) detects Builders 2's model files correctly.  I was able to extract a texture file as a png following his instructions, but he says in his post he doesn't know how to get models, and Switch Toolbox wasn't exporting models from any of the extensions it spat out.

Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks!

So I'm not sure about DQB1 but I know that people have been able to successfully extract DQB2 assets using my Koei plugin : https://github.com/Joschuka/Project-G1M/releases/latest
You can open the g1t and the g1m files with it. And if you find the animations associated to the models you'll be able to load these too (g1a and g2a files).

Thanks, I'll probably need that.  Do you have any advice for getting g1t/g1m files out of the Linkdata bin?  QuickBMS didn't extract anything with those extensions.  I'm also looking at Cethleann but am not having any luck getting it to do anything; I'll probably post on the forum thread I got it from and ask about it there.
