Help with ripping Jetpack Joyride sprites
#1
Question
I've been doing some sprites for my friend's clone of Jetpack Joyride for the TI-84 Plus CE (Graphing Calculator), but I've been thinking that if I was able to get a better view of the original sprites for the game, that could be quite useful. Obviously, being able to view the physical sprites is easier than studying a screenshot. Tongue
Anyway, I downloaded the APK, extracted it, and looked in the assets folder, eventually discovering the sprites were stored in .tex texture files. Since that point, I've been trying to figure out how to view those .tex files. I've found various threads on VG Resource where it seems others have done similar things, but I either have had no explanation of how it was done or no tools for converting the files. The tools I did find, a Python script and a Windows Executable, didn't work for various reasons on my 9-year-old mac. I also saw someone who had apparently managed to open the .tex files in Tile Molester (Based on attachment), which I tried, but also to no avail. I checked Spriter's Resource to see if anyone may have uploaded the sheets, but it appeared no one had.
TL;DR, I've searched all over the internet but nothing seems to work (not compatible with the Halfbrick .tex files or not compatible with my machine).
If someone would either be able to tell me how to rip the sprites (on a 9-year-old mac) or happens to be able to rip them quickly themself, that would be great. (Keep in mind that I don't need sprite sheets, I just want to view the actual sprites so they don't need to be laid out neatly or anything.)
Thanks in advance!  Big Grin

Update: I've figured out how, and I even made this tutorial for others who are having similar issues! Hopefully, it will come in handy for anyone else interested in ripping sprites from Jetpack Joyride Big Grin

Edit:
Link was dead but I fixed it. Should be good now!

the tutorial is gone, might you be inclined to post a new one if you still remember how to do this?
