something something ripping from steam games
#1
hi! new here, kinda.. wondering something here, i've been kinda considering ripping models??? of course im a total beginner and probably wont ever get to it, but heres the deal:
i've been eyeing the steam port of sunset overdrive, and one of my friends suggested seeing if i could go through its files or smthn?? hypothetically speaking of course, is it possible to look through the models and if so what would i need to do such a thing? game's interested me for a while and i've always kinda wanted to dig through it. like, enemy models and whatnot. also, i know some games have like.. this sort of thing, but i wanna see if there's like beta build residue or something IF POSSIBLE. this is entirely me rambling and im gonna get fuckin' like, yelled at for not understanding shit cause im new but heyyyyy worth a shot

First thing, to access the files of any steam game you need to right click on the game in your library. click properties>local_files>browse_local_files. From there, it depends on the game. If you know what engine the game uses, try and find out how to rip assets from games using that engine. If you don't know, look into the file types you see, and see if you can find any info on ripping them. hope this helps Smile
