[MINI TUTORIAL] Ripping Models From Mario Golf World Tour (3DS)
#1
For a while I wanted to extract the models for Mario Golf World Tour as I wanted to find some models to use for making some mods.  I followed through Superstarxalien's tutorial for extracting the models for Mario Tennis Open and through my curiosity, I wanted to see if a similar method was possible for extracting the models from Mario Golf World Tour.  The result I got was very interesting and I wanted to post my findings here!

In order to rip models from Mario Golf World Tour, you will need to first rename the model's .NBCH extension to .NARC, as EveryFileExplorer (EFE) can open these files.  Inside the .NARC file is the .CBCH file, which contains the model with its textures, which you will need to extract.

The main issue with extracting these files is that they were compressed unlike other games with the same file formats.  To my surprise, I learned that you can actually decompress these with Kuriimu, which will allow you to extract the models from a separate program.  From here, it is pretty similar to how Mario Tennis Open models are extracted: from the Tools tab in Kurrimu go to Compression -> Nintendo -> Decompress -> General and select the .CBCH you want to decompress, then you save it as a new file.

Once the .CBCH file is decompressed, open your newly decompressed file in Ohana3DS and extract the models and textures.  I previously tried using SPICA to extract the model, though it ended up missing some meshes when I imported it into 3DS Max.  The model was fixed when I used Ohana3DS instead, so this worked out for the better.

Special thanks to Superstarxalien for their tutorial's extra guidance as it gave me a clue about decompressing these types of files.  Extracting these models should be much easier than before.
