Hi everyone
#1
Hello everyone, I'm Leo3065 (probably the username I use most of the time).

I've visited this site several times before, mostly because of sprites and sometimes the models, mainly for either various small personal projects or my obsession with collecting data. Then I decided that I should join, to know here better, properly give credits, and probably give some help if I can.

About myself:
I'm currently majoring Electrical Engineering, and I love programming and making some electronic projects. Although I'm not really an artist, I'm interested in 3D modeling, am currently learning Blender, and has tried to make some models.
Although when it comes to games, my biggest interests are rhythm games, zachlikes, and sandbox games, there are also some games I like outside those genres, especially Pokémon, which is the main reason I visited here.

Welcome!

My major was in Electrical Engineering as well. I've definitely done more sprites than modeling, I need to play with Blender some more...

I don't think I've ever heard of a zachlike before. If you like Rhythm games and sandbox games you might like a PS2 game called Steambot Chronicles. Its basically a sandbox game where you join a band, play a bunch of different instruments and drive/fight walking car robots. Another game you might like is Sega's Rhythm Thief which was first released on the 3DS but also has an iOS release if I'm not mistaken. As the name suggests the game follows an art thief and the gameplay consists of a variety of rhythm challenges. The game also has this sort of Ace Attorney/Professor Layton feel. If you are a fan of either of those I highly recommend this one!

Zachlike, named after the game developer Zach Barth and coined by RPS writer Alice O'Connor, refers puzzle games that go with the line of "here's some tools and some inputs, make something to turn these inputs to the required outputs", usually by the means of assembling, programming, or both.

Some examples:
  • Infinifactory, where you construct factory using cube-shaped machines like conveyer belts, welders, etc.
  • SHENZHEN I/O, where you design electronic products to meet the specifications
  • Human Resource Machine, where you set up workflow for office workers to automate their job
  • Monster Logic, where you arrange monsters and utilize their ability to deliver the correct cans
